When I was on CC last year around April, there were tons of threads discussing how hard it was to get into an ivy. There were about 3 people left over from the previous year and everyone else was totally convinced that admissions to the ivies involved absolutely NO luck. If you deserved to be accepted, then you would be accepted. If you were not accepted, then you were just a loser. I particularly remember the argument that a person would be accepted to Yale and not Harvard, and vice versa, because Yale and Harvard were looking for different kinds of applicants. This OP has written a grammar filled post claiming that three ivy adcoms called him on the phone immediately after reading his essay. It is his first post, but he thanks everyone for helping him in the past. He states an impossible score (not divisible by 10) as his SAT. Does anyone know why people believe him?

I know a lot of you have doubts about my ability to get into these schools. First off my SAT score is posted wrong it was really a 1420 not 1435. Secondly the essay is personal, it talks about the death of one of my parents and I really rather not share it, at least not right now. Third, yes the Ivy's are only looking at the early decisions and some freshmen right now, but Ive called and beg these people to just take a look at my application early. After about a dozen calls I got a response back. Fourth, yes their are grammatical errors in my post but Im sorry I don't spend all day making this post perfect. Believe what you want to believe but getting into these schools are tough but by thinking that just grades and test scores are whats important is a wrong approach, sometimes it your maturity, self drive, and integrity that gets you through the door. These schools are not looking to just accept anybody; theyre looking to accept the next generations of students that will make a difference in this world. When you apply to these schools think long and hard about that, you make the school, the school doesnt make you. Last off it usually what grad school you go that makes an impact in your career.

please PLEASE PM IT TO ME TOO!!! i wanna read it!!!

but not everyone wants to go to grad school....

(ah, my parents would kill me if they heard that)

Akwayz21:
You didn't say anything about why it was your 1st post (2 so far), but you thanked everyone on CC for all the help that they had given you.

I thank all you guys for your help and information. I made a post about transferring to an ivy league.

Incidently, noone has questioned your ability to get into those schools as you indicated. The OP is in question. :)

Always21:
I know that the story is going to be that you forgot your password or something and so had to start a new userid, but in your profile, it says that you joined CC on 02/01/2006. I just find it interesting a person would bother to do this. I suppose some people on here seem naive to you, but they probably believe you because they can't imagine why anyone would make it up. Why are you?

This just gets better and better. Okay, people. There's a bit of good advice for you. Yawl get on the phone now tomorrow. ROTFLMAO

It happens to be coincedentally extremely personal, then post just a couple of the less personal sentences since every word had so much emotion.

Eh-hem.....I call ********..1435 SAT

How could they "make a mistake?" 1420, and 1435 are deliberately away from each other. I doubt this person has even taken the SAT or tried to get into college.
And...we don't know you, so no matter how personal your essay is, we won't know who you are. It's just anonmymously written.

Whatever...I don't see the point in faking this..It just gets people's hopes up for something ridiculous.

This is what they mean by "red flags". It started with three different adcoms calling on the phone and saying almost the exact same thing. They don't do a FBI background check to make sure that you didn't lie on the app or have a "professional" service write your essay for you, but they do have a sense for red flags.

Harvard, for sure. As for being out of place -- nah, you'll bring a wealth of experience to the classroom that the profs will appreciate, and the teenagers can only dream about.

Send me the essay, too, I'd love to read it.

bluebayou, Did you read the posts about this OP being bogus?

dufus3709: you are really going for the jugular. still, you are right on, this guy sounds like another poster "thatindiandude" that also made up some whoppers on cc

This troll is just laughing his *** off at all the gullible posters on this thread... I know I was at first until I reached about the 100th person who asked the troll to send his very powerful and moving NONEXISTANT personal statement, but after that it just became sad and pathetic... move along people- there's nothing to see here.

Yeah, you sure happened to yourself alright. Your silly, time wasting, trolling self.

Yeah, there are way too many grammatical errors in the OP's posts (not to mention the title of the thread). Nice try on fabricating a story.

I think they called you to say your essay was a BS fabrication and that you should go to community college.

but that's just me
