Okay, yes. An A- is a great grade. But come on. I swear I had like a 94.4% or something. I think I'm getting straight A-'s this semester. Shouldn't be complaining, but grrrrr.

Getting an A- is usually worse than getting a B+, I think. And that’s why it sucks to get a string of A-'s.

How is it worse than getting B+s?

I hate B+s. Made a similar but longer rant thread about them last year lol.

I hate both B+s and A-s. A- because you get points taken off. B+s because it’s like “Welp you were close, but…not enough LOL. Nice try. You’ll never get another chance to try again though. Oh but as a consolation, you get +0.3. Hope that makes you feel better.” And what the hell is the cutoff between a B+ and an A-? I mean if you have 89.5, do you get a B+? Are you penalized for not getting 0.5 points more? It’s discouraging is what it is, especially for those who try hard in a class. (Not referring to myself, but I’m just saying in general)

So mad that A- counts less and A+ and A is the same. I know every college does it the same but I just killed my 4.0 this semester with a gd A-. Feel like just dropping out :(

^^ i would like to know about 89.5 final percent as well

had a 92 average going into the Aging Brain Final…bam…down to 89.5…

i hope to god that is an A-…

solution: instead of a discrete grading system, we move to a continuous one, that way no one can complain about anything.

oooh shuuut upp. read my threads. jk i should be nicer. good job for getting an A-. some of us would die to get an A-. haha jk i dont r eally care thaat much.

@crowslayer: I’ve given thought to this, but I’ve always come to the conclusion that it would be a nightmare where everybody was competing for every last point, even more so then some people do already. With discrete there’s more of a diminishing returns effect for the top students (or those who expect to get a certain grade but not any better).
Also B+ is worse than A- since it’s a drop of .4 from an A- which is only a .3 drop from A

Worst day of my first semester? Finding out an A- is not an A. GRAARRHHHGGGG rage quit
