I hate affirmative action

Merciless attacks? You should consider writing scripts for soap operas. Such talent would be totally wasted on college. Grow up.

There goes another one. This is a discussion, not a bashfest. Such sarcasm is not appreciated.

"This is not a bashfest"

What do you call your original post?

Sorry, I don't speak bigot. It's just not my thing.

What have I done to you to deserve this?

When I say attack, I refer to useless posts made of emotion rather than intellect. We could debate or we can do this and bash one another:

!!!! BLACK PEOPLE WERE LYNCHED U DUMBAZZ! AA HAS MERIT ING ******!

You have posted an arrogant, hateful thread condemning a program that, while imperfect, provides a needed service to many top students. Could it be amended, sure. To blame AA for all your problems smacks of immaturity, and I don't take kindly to that.

My original post was a rant against affirmative action. I never said anything against the other student. I'm sure you've ranted before.

No, you just made condescending remarks about his achievements given your higher SAT and GPA. You basically outright stated that you were more qualified than him. How is that not saying anything against him?

It doesn't make him racist. He said he had a higher GPA and SAT score. To me, the person with the better stats is more qualified.

He ascribed the other student's success in college admissions and financial aid process to race. How is that not racism?

Well if the other student had lower scores and got in over him, then race had to play as one factor, so no it doesn't make him racist.

"Racism is not about how you look, it is about how people assign meaning to how you look."
-Robin D.G. Kelley, historian

Oh, so you've never seen this before? How many times have you witnessed someone who didn't get a promotion he thought he deserved? Turn on the TV once in a while.

Because, you know, TV is exactly like real life. I'm telling you, soaps is the way to go for your talents.

and furthermore, I have never seen somebody qualified passed up for a promotion. Unqualified, sure. That's what this thread apparently embodies too.

TV is just the easiest way to see it. It happens ALL THE TIME in real life. And people call me sheltered...

Oh please. You are just looking for a scapegoat here, and you've picked race. How does that not make you racist?

So are you arguing that affirmative action doesn't exist?

How are the schools not "racist" for accepting people based on skin color? I'm bi-racial and I know I'd be angry if a school accepted me based on my racial background instead of my abilities, to me that seems that the only thing I'm offering the school is skin color then. It's stupid!

^I like your perspective.

Of course I'm not arguing that affirmative action doesn't exist. What I think is that your whining on this thread clearly demonstrates an alternate explanation to your situation here.
