Hey everyone,

I posted a thread about a month ago about me enjoying being a commuter and how it saves me money, doesn't degrade the college experience, etc. Well, im starting to feel the negative side effects of commuting and I really feel like its kicking me in pants real hard in a bad way.

Commuting was OK for the first month, or at least it seemed that way to me since I had no idea what I was missing but now im finding out about all these parties that are occurring at other campuses and how much fun people are having while I just take the transit from college to home............. even the frats at my college aren't that involving; example: this Halloween weekend, they are going to another college to mix with their brothers there rather than at ours- this just shows how dead our campus is....

Now, I have asked other freshman on campus on their experiences about living on campus so far for the first month in half and 90% of them tell me that living on campus isn't worth the extra expense here since its a commuter college and it is basically a ghost town on the weekends with nothing to do so if I were to live on campus, I would transfer colleges.

My question is: should I transfer because im losing the college experience? I have a 3.8 (a bit higher) GPA here at my current college and if I can keep that up until the end of the year or maybe get it to a 3.9 or the magical 4.0, I might be eligible for some scholarships at the transfer college of my choice? I know transfer scholarships are super difficult to come by but im a pre-med student so a 3.8 or higher could get me some serious money off tuition if I transfer to another college right? If I do transfer, it will be after im done with this academic school year

I pay about 5 grand (1/2 tuition) at my current college and the college I am looking to transfer to is about 17 grand when you include room and board. How much of a chance do you think I have at cutting down that tuition to the level im paying now or at least 10 grand off? The college I want to transfer to is Ohio University since its a big party school and they have a DO medical college, which is the type of doctor I would want to be (instead of an MD)........

But honestly, I think its worth transferring cause of the lack of social life. I did nothing in high school- not one dance, prom, and I didn't even go to high school graduation ceremony! I already let the high school experience slip through my fingers and I am already losing the freshman experience. I can't let my college experience follow the same path.... I just can't. I hope you understand...

Thanks people for your responses and please leave me honest responses and if you think transferring is a good idea!
