From friend’s blog:

I loathe hipsters. I loathe them more than anything, in fact hipsters fundamentally are the worst people on Earth. Sure, they don’t murder or rape or both murder and rape or even worse completely screw over our financial system and get away with it scot-free. But hipsters are still really bad people.

The core “hipster” really is someone who feels that he’s smarter than the rest of the populace and is proud of his purported superior intelligence of his fellow man. He’s so proud that he specifically goes out and does **** that the entire world agrees upon is horrible (talking fashion/speech/overall behavior here). He knows it’s horrrible too but does it because he feels special doing something that everyone hates, that if the stupid people hate something, that must mean that the smart people actually like it. Because that of course is how life works, if an opposite hates something, then you must love it. It can’t be that certain things are hated because they are so bad that they garner universal hate, no that’s not even possible.

Hipster go out of their way to **** people off. They’re like hardcore racists who enjoy making other races feel uncomfortable. Yeah I’m not going to put in a caveat there, hipsters are like hardcore racists. That’s just a plain fact. They gain pleasure out of annoying people, some narcissitic joy that reaffirms their superiority of the uncouth, idiotic masses, a superiority again only in the heads of these hipsters. No one else thinks hipsters are smart, no one else even respects hipsters. Being smart is not picking up on things that everyone else rejects. Being smart is abstract of course and I suppose the closest you can come to pinning down a defiition to being smart is thinking. When you think, you understand things better, you connect things with logic instead of emotion, and with that understanding, you don’t need to brag. You don’t need to show off how you are so much better than the stupid people. I won’t go as far to say that you don’t have any sense of superiority, I mean that’s innate in all human beings, but you won’t go around being such a tool about it. People who try to be hipsters, in my eyes, are posers. They feel inadequate about themselves and try to be smarter to make themselves feel superior. This superiority is nothing but a sham used to prop up their own insecurities.

That’s just hardcore hipsters though. The growing number of hipsters these days simply want to fit in with a group, which also is not cool, or just want to be ironic, which is kind of funny. Be your own man/woman or if you are going to conform, do it to something that doesn’t pride itself in liking stupid ****. I mean seriously, the music and the Freaking SCARVES are terrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible. Be a jock or a nerd, not a geek that’s been morphed into this nonsense as well, because at least jocks and nerds actually gain something out of life. If you want to be against the mold, just think things through. Think why you support something, why you feel this way. Keep thinking and discover what you find is original, what truly appeals to you. Most likely that will be against the mold but it won’t even matter. And if it truly, and don’t cheat yourself, if you truly find that you connect with the mainstream, that’s not a problem either. Things are mainstream for a reason and the fact that you genuinely feel that way is all that matters.

In conclusion, don’t be a hipster. Everyone hates them and for a good reason. Be unique or if anything be what you truly want to be. Being a hipster is just being insecure and trying to be superior. No one needs to feel superior, they just need to be happy
