I hate McGill...

^Bigtwix, as you travel, you will find that you can't broadly generalize about people's promiscuity in any one place. There's a range, just like anywhere else. Sure, local culture may encourage more of a hook-up culture in one place vs. another, but to say that all girls in Montreal, or anywhere else, are "sluts" is completely ludicrous.

Ouch. And I thought McGill was a nice college.

Schools like McGill and UBC are very large schools with many commuters. Therefore, many people have different experiences.

If you're rich with a lot of leisure time, and was part of the popular clique in the expensive private school that's nearby campus, then university will be a blast.

If you were kind of quiet in high school, and/or live far away in a poor ethnic community, maybe your life in university won't be so rocking.

nah, my social life is sweet... but that's independent of the institution itself...I've got drinking/partying down to a science, I don't need McGill for that.

But yeah, I'm from the hood...so getting paid is of major importance to me. More important than all that other non sense.

I don't get these rich kids that went to private schools that think that there's some secret skill in partying, and that college is really meant to be an excuse to get f'ed up.

Where I live, people get high all day every day and most didn't make it through high school. People ask me "how come you don't smoke weed? Were in college, no rules!" I'm like, I smoked weed everyday since I was 14, sold since I was 15, then I turned 20 and it was time to grow up...

Thats not what i was saying. I just want to know if there is actually a pool of dateable girls at McGill, or are the majority of students all into hooking up.

If you want a social life in uni, just live in residence for first year (or more) so that you meet people. It can get expensive, but if the alternative is a 2 hour commute I would definetly go for it. UBC rez is pretty good for that... and there are a fair number of people from the vancouver area who live in rez.

If depends on what you're studying. Mcgill offers one of the best program in business ( often compared with wharton and Harvard by U.S. News) in the world (!), and it's pretty cool because the Desautels faculty of business also offers classes to undergrads. Law is also a strong subject. Mcgill has a strong reputation in these fields, and it's often considered as a springboard for the Ivy league's graduate schools..as I've written, it depends on what you're studying

wutang....I didn't know you went to McGill....

Haha I know how you feel. Everyone's like that here. They're all so excited about getting high and drunk for the first time. I'm not critical of them but it's like I was into that six years ago and I really don't see the fun in it anymore. Guess I peaked a little early.

zechiel-- the "springboard" idea is interesting- i graduate this may and i hope that part works out for me!
and honestly, people need to chill. with 33 thousand people, there are bound to be some people who made a mistake by coming here.
