I just started junior year and my french 3 class is filled with kids that are way too loud, taking selfies in class, drawing on the board and whatnot. The teacher would just give them warnings and whenever she does try to teach she’ll just end up getting interrupted by them. How am i supposed to learn anything like this… aaaaa what do I doo
I had a bad teacher last year and ended up with a decent average for the class but then almost failed the NYS chem regents because of her. There’s one for french 3 that I’m almost certain i’d bomb if I stay in this class.
I hated learning french but my grades were okay I guess. My averages were an 82 for 9th grade and then a 90 for 10th
Apparently my school only requires 2 years of a foreign language but idk it might look bad for colleges. (Why is foreign language important for it anyway?) Honestly I’m interested to take art, but have no more room in my schedule. I wish I could just drop french and trade it for that.
I’d say I’m overall a pretty average student. As a freshman I would get low 80’s and then as a sophomore I would get low 90’s. That was a pretty big improvement actually. This year I hope I do even better and end up with honors classes as a senior.
Stick with it for one more year. You’ll limit your college options if you only have through level 2. Many colleges recommend or even require 3-4 years of foreign language in high school. You can quit senior year.
The colleges want people who can at least show some knowledge of a foreign language.
Are you planning to go to college?
Well, for starters, it’s a life skill, one that, unfortunately, too few Americans acquire. Secondly, colleges are looking for their applicants to have followed well-rounded college preparatory route. Thirdly, many colleges have a foreign language requirement for graduation. College language classes will require a lot more time an effort than HS classes.
It depends upon the colleges you are targeting. For those that recommend 2 years, you’re fine. If they recommend 3-4 years, you’re not.
You do realize that learning is your job. The teacher is there to facilitate your learning, not do it for you.
Stick with it, colleges like 3 years in the same language
Stick with it. Many colleges require 3 years of a foreign language.
Can you switch into the honors version of that class, using your 90’s grade as a proof you can handle the Honors class? It should be a bit more conducive to learning.
Most colleges will want to see 3 years, some will require 3 and expect 4, so you have to stick with it.
