i hate my life. i didn't get into NYU.

basically, i applied way back in november for early decision, and all i think about is NYU!!! ugh it totally SUCKS!! i know i can transfer but its just gonna take a year or less and i feel so hopeless. bleh

NYU is basically just a school. Be happy that you have like three more chances to apply. And plus, you’ll save lots of money. I really don’t get why people get so hung up on NYU. NYU is NOT your life. Trust me, there are many worse things that could happen than some stupid rejection.

And seriously, you will get rejection many more times in the future (and most of those times, you will not get a second or third chance). Guess it’s better for you to toughen up now in order for you to get ready.

lol thanx i was hoping for an answer like that, honestly. i cant really tell much ppl what i just said, but thats REALLY how i feel. : ] so okay u seem like u know some stuff…so if i transfer, and dont get in again (altho im really hoping THAT wont happen, im almost kinda sure it wont if they consider my high school record stuff again) but if it does, then i can reapply? btw, i’m applying ASAP<< like within a year. so that’ll give me another year too hopefully.

god i just keep thinking about it. and then my friend, who goes there right now, told me if i think my sat score will increase, then i shouldn’t do ED, but then i thought it probably wouldn’t and it did by 50 points but idk if that would make a diff. and then all this other stuff came up like i earned 1000 dollars for an organization which i think would play a HUGE role in admissions but again, they dont accept appeals!! just my luck. i guess thats what i get for being impatient and dumb…applying ED. ED is actually even more competitive cuz all the ppl are really smart and have wanted to go there for so long and the pool is smaller. they say in their brochures u have a better chance tho. i think they’re talking to u…the ppl who are in the top percentages of their class. ahh okay bye. lol this is long.

I understand how you feel, but honestly college is totally what you make of it!! And i’m not just saying that! College is all about freedom and independence, and if you want to have fun at college then you will, no matter where you are.

I’ve heard tons of stories from people who didn’t get into their top college choice and ended up LOVING where they ended up going and couldn’t imagine themselves anywhere else! You might not even want to transfer after spending a year at whichever college you choose to go to! Just wait and see :)

cheer up!
I wish the best for you!

berry,

Yes, you can apply for next fall and if you don’t get in, apply again for the following spring. If that doesn’t work out, you could apply again the following fall. So you have 3 tries.

Look, I know what you’re going through. I was rejected from NYU, but I did a lot during the senior year that NYU did not know about. I looked at the positive side about how I could always transfer and plus, save a lot of money. Right now, I’m a freshman at Baruch and I LOVE it. I worked hard for the average, got involved, and hoping that my ACT scores will not play such a large factor since I’m transferring.

Just go to a college and love it. Although NYU is my dream school, I made the best at Baruch and so far, it’s been the best educational experience of my life thus far. If I do get accepted to NYU and attend, I will still miss Baruch. But even if it doesn’t happen, there’s a positive and negative side to EVERYTHING. And plus, there’s always graduate school.

ak,

yeah I did a LOT in my senior year too. I earned $1000 for a community service program and my gpa has been the highest ever. send me a PM for details in case school friends are lurking ; ] probably not though haha. but yeah i wish they had an appeal system, but i can still mention it when i transfer.

can i attend a summer semester straight after senior year at any college and apply in november of the same year?

its only NYU… dont worry its not like you’ll miss out much if u go to another decent uni. its not like an ivy

You know school is what you make of it wherever you go. Some people might get in there top choice, attend and hate it. Others get into a lower choice and find out that it’s the right school for them.

So whatever happens make the best of it. Like you said you can transfer later if you want to. But who knows you might love where you end up going. Just keep an open mind and give it your best shot.

Good luck.
