UT should at least offer an A+ (worth 4.33) to compensate for A- (like Columbia does, IIRC). Either that, or they should get rid of A- altogether because there's no compensation at the other end like with Bs, Cs etc. A 99 in a class is worth the same as an 94, while an 89 gets you more points than an 84.

I would also like to add that its unfair that some professors use the system and others don’t. Either use the system universally or don’t use it at all.

Athenos is absolutely right. I think anything above a 3.8 is solid GPA. And the bright side is that if you get a B+, then it doesn’t totally ruin your GPA.

Yeah, I think all professors should choose one or the other. I got an 88.67 in Statistics but my professor said she wasnt doing +/- so I got a pretty little 3.00 when it could have been a 3.33.

This stupid plus-minus system is complete B.S. If professors in the entire university are not mandated to use the system, its not an even playing field for all students. This big grading aspect of UT is what ****es students off , especially me.
