I Hate Standardized Tests!!!

I don't like them. I've studied hard for the SAT I and SAT II, and my scores in math and science just don't improve, and they're the only things that really mess up my applications. I think I'm through taking them, and am just gonna take my chances and hope the rest of my application makes up for the mediocre scores.

maybe you're just naturally stupid? i love how people hate these tests because they suck at them. they're a lot more fair than GPA which is different for every school.

SATs aren't necessarily more fair than GPA. Also, not everyone hates the SAT because they suck at it. I did very well and still hate the test.

no, I have to agree with jfs...grades in school are so subjective. the SAT isn't. most people say that the test isn't fair because "rich white people" can afford test preparation but I just tell them that my score is a 2360 and I am neither white nor rich.

Grades are subjective, but the SAT isn't a completely level playing field either. Also, just because one person that isn't white or rich scores well doesn't mean that the rich who have access to test prep don't usually score better than low-income students. Of course there are exceptions, but test prep can make a big difference.

I wish the SAT were free. Dumb Collegeboard is so capitalistic in its endeavors to equalize us all before college admissions officers. If it were up to me, everyone should boycott it. What would colleges do then? Reject everybody?

And some people just aren't test takers. It's not that I do badly, but I don't necessarily pass with extremely vivid flying colors. I'm much better at focused content, a la AP. Of course, Collegeboard wants money for that too.

Let's just make a rival company!

I've never understood what people mean by "I'm just not a test taker"...how are some people just "naturally bad" at taking a test?

you just get a packet of questions and you answer them as well as you can...

The stress and time constraints wear some people out. Also, pertaining to the SAT, reading comprehension and broad math concepts can be kind of vague.

I dont see how someone cannot realize the difference between a Test and a normal question-answer thingy. Test tests not only your knowledge, but your speed and hand's physical endurance along with your mental stamina, which is much more difficult than to remember a bunch of crap and spurge it out. The SAT however also tests how well your mental skills are at quickly identifying and overcoming deception, which is what every SAT question is - a test of deception. So the SAT tests A LOT more than just how much stuff you know from high school. If it was that easy, everyone would have 800s!

"...which is much more difficult than to remember a bunch of crap and spurge it out"

-so you actually have to use your BRAIN on SAT and some people "suck" at that? lol...

^^ apparently so, lol

Haha yeah, who knows. I'm not really familiar with that problem. Surpassing 1400 seems to be good enough for me.

Look at the admissions results from last year and see that people with all sorts of scores were accepted to some of the most selective colleges in the country. So, if you can't do well on SATs like me, but have done well on some of your other tests, then move on. Make everything else on your application the best it can be, apply, and pray for the best.
