So, basically I filed the CSS profile on February 2nd according to the date submitted on their website. I sent my IDOC in the mail postmarked February 28th. My dad has yet to complete the noncustodial profile, and probably never will (yay! more problems!).

Is the IDOC considered late to colleges that had priority filing on February 15th?

Also, for Rice and Northwestern, which require the NCP, am I screwed? I have a meeting with my counselor tomorrow and we plan to call both of these colleges to discuss with their financial aid offices if I can get this waived since my dad has completely stopped supporting me and I can't contact as the only time he speaks to me is in front of a judge.

Am I going to get financial aid or should I just cross these colleges off my list?

Well, you’ll find out tomorrow. It’s unlikely you’ll get a waiver of the NCP requirement, unless there’s more going on than what you’ve described . . . but it can’t hurt to ask!

You actually may be able to get a waiver. I called one school about a waiver and they said they needed a letter from me and a notarized letter from someone else who knows the situation. If your guidance counselor is familiar with your situation with your father, or you have anything from the court to back up that your father doesn’t support you or have contact with you - you may be able to get the waiver. Each school has different requirements for a waiver, and they can tell you what you need to do when you call tomorrow.

Your father not wanting to file is generally not sufficient to warrant an NCP waiver (otherwise all parents would say the same thing). It is worth it to ask.
