I hate the GPA system.

Second semester of this year I had a 3.8 GPA, but I didn't do very well on the final exams (it was a really, really tough batch, I got mainly B's, one C+ and one A) and because of the way the numerical averages fall (and the fact that exams are 20% of the final grade, and 25% in math) means I may end up with a second semester GPA of only 3.5. And my first semester was 3.57...so I'm not looking at too hot of a sophomore year. At least it's an upward trend, though (I had a 3.3 last year)

And our transcripts are just class name and final grade. I feel like I worked so hard to get a 3.8 (which doesn't sound high but at my school that puts me in the top 15%) and now it's practically ruined. My actual averages aren't that much lower, my numerical average probably dropped from like a 92 to a 90, but because of the whole grade point system my GPA could have dropped as much as .3!

Doesn't that have more to do with the weight of finals rather than the GPA system?

yeah... finals are not cool. neither are unweighted GPA systems. at least you have weighted GPAs, which is good if you're in honors/AP/IB classes.

Could be worse. In Ireland your entire college admission is based on 2 weeks of exams in June of your senior year. curses Leaving Certificate

Wow. That's like...

shivers

oh my gosh, that's SAT pressure times 1,000.

Tell me about it. rolls eyes
The exams are based on 7 subjects that you do in your last 2 years in college. Of course kirby had to make it more painful by actually doing 8 subjects...
You guys don't realise how lucky you are to be able to get away with senioritis.
