Ok, I kind of want to go to Harvard. Well, that may be the biggest understatement known to man. Actually, I REALLY want to go to Harvard. Look, at my stats, tell me what to think and hey, it's ok to attempt to shatter my ego (however miniscule it may be).

My GPA: 4.9 out of 5; unweighted it is 4.0 out of 4.0
My race: African-American female (not sure that it's important but I think it's worth mentioning to you).

My Test Scores:
SAT: 2190 (definitely going to retake as a result of a massive headache that day. I have to say that I am disappointed)
ACT: 34
I will NOT take the ACT over. I've taken it twice and each time I have received a 34. I don't have the money to retake it again anyway as I'm going to pay for the SAT.

SAT II:
US History: 800
Math Level I:800
Physics:770
Math Level II:790

AP Exam Scores:
AP Physics B:5 (I took the physics SAT subject test before I took AP physics which is why the score is lower for my subject test)

AP Biology:4

I don't feel like listing all of my AP scores but I have a considerable amount of 4's and 5.

Class Rank: 1 out of 543
class rank is unweighted by the way

Extracuriculars:
Canada/USA Math Camp-summer grade 9
Oxbridge Academic-summer grade 10
(basically, you either attend Cambridge or Oxford for a summer and take classes that that are typical of freshmen students)
MIT RSI-summer grade 11

-I've been President of my Class 11th grade year
-I am vice president this year (12th grade)

That's all that I have time for because my teacher is yelling at me to finish my Mastering Physics...I despise that program. I have a lot of other leadership positions and awards but as I;ve said, I can't mention them all now. :(

I’d say for you if you can get your SAT up to 2300+ area then you have a really really nice shot, already your chances are great but a higher SAT doesn’t hurt and clearly you have the capacity to do so. I wouldn’t really want to classify you too early and boost any ego or anything so i’ll say a reach for now although you will certainly be one of the more competitive applicants in their pool

Ok, and I’m not exaggerating here, if these are your real stats - and here on CC, I’m generally weary of stats posted by new users - I will literally change my name if you don’t get into Harvard. I’m not kidding. But just looking at your stats, especially if you really went to RSI!!!, you seem like an extremely competitive candidate. Your ACT is the Harvard 75th percentile and you have 2 perfect SAT II Scores. Beyond that you are an African-American female meaning that you will receive a huge boost from Affirmative Action.

I feel obligated to say the following: This post looks rather forced (if that’s the right word)… It’s the uncanny valley, where this post could be true, but something looks just a little off. For someone talented enough to attend RSI and the Canada/USA Math Team this post has been made with an awful lot of disregard… I understand rushing, but… I don’t know, but I’m going to call ■■■■■ on this one.

However, if this is genuine, you almost certainly will get into Harvard. Good luck!

Sebelius, I fail to see how my post can seem “forced” but perhaps you can enlighten me. I also misunderstand how I have shown disregard-a word that I’m sure has been used incorrectly in your post. I have avoided any colloquial speech and I was simply posting stats, not writing an analytical essay.

I’m a little upset that you would say that something looks off to you. I have seen other CC users with stats that are seemingly better than mine and no one has had the audacity to call them a ■■■■■. I can only wonder why you would assume that. Is it because you can’t imagine an African-American student that has stats that are above par? I’m quite sure that if I deducted 10 points from my ACT score I would appear “believable” to you. However, I am not going to deflate my achievements in order to satisfy you or anyone else. I have worked incredibly hard my entire high school career and thus I simply wanted to know if I stood a chance at the school because the wait is already killing me.

Thanks to everyone else who calcuated my chances.

You seem like you have a strong chance for Harvard (being African American helps a bunch) but I’m a little confused about your 4.9 weighted GPA. How is that even possible? Your school must have some grade inflation going on. How are your classes weighted?

AP classes are graded on a 5.0 scale. Every other class (including accelerated, honors and advanced) not affiliated with the Collegeboard are graded on a 4.0 scale. A “B” in an AP class would still allow you to get a 4.0. I’m not quite sure that it is severe inflation…it is weighted after all.

@unitagony you have a great chance but its harvard and lots of students with great everything still get rejected. And u should just use ur ACT instead of retaking the sat. A 2400 instead off a 34 isn’t really gonna make a difference

sebelius’ point was that your achievements are obviously very good. RSI is harder to get into than Harvard, so you have a really good chance at Harvard (assuming that you are not a ■■■■■).

I think you’re definitely qualified, but admission into the Ivy League is a crap shoot for pretty much anyone. Your SAT 1 score isn’t bad, your SAT ll scores are awesome:). Your extracurriculars/outside activities are good. Your URM status may help some.

I was just wondering because that means that basically every single class you’ve ever taken is an AP because your weighted GPA hasn’t been brought down by normal required courses.
