I hate to ask, but SAT vs. ACT scores

I will be applying as a transfer and all of my schools require one or the other, but I'm not sure which to send.

ACT: 32 (with writing)

SAT: 2150

SAT II: 650, 690

I was thinking for Columbia and Brown that I should just do ACT because my subject test scores aren't too great, but for NYU/Fordham/Emerson/Binghamton do SAT because they won't look at subject tests as much and the 2150 is comparatively better to the ACT. I was wondering though if this sounds like the right way to go about this or if there is a smarter way. I'd hate to risk getting in somewhere because of not sending the right test score, as unlikely as that probably is.

Thank you.

You do know that you can choose which scores you send, right? If you are not happy with your subject test scores, you can just send your reasoning test scores. However, Columbia requires two subject test regardless of if you send the SAT or the ACT, so either way you would have to send SAT II’s.

Your ACT may be better than your SAT. Depends on your Math+CR score, can’t really tell from “2150”. Though, with a 2150, i’d guess that your ACT and SAT are almost equals. Use that chart to see which score is actually better.

As stated above, some schools will require SAT subjects, whether or not you took the ACT. In this case, and if your ACT turns out to be better, you can use the “Score Choice” feature on the SAT to send your subject tests without sending your SAT score.

If you have time before app deadlines (I assume you’re applying next semester or next year…?), try to study up and get better scores on the subject tests.
