Can you guys chance me at Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, and Dartmouth? Particularly the first. I'm worried because I'm not being actively recruited at these schools (though I am at others). While I probably won't go to these schools, I'm curious as to whether I have chance to get in or not to these schools.

I’m also applying as either a economics or chemistry major for these schools.

HYPS is a crapshoot with your stats. Seriously it depends on the mood of the adcoms on that day.
Darthmouth you’re in.

I think you’ll be good at Dartmouth, HYP is gonna be a longshot, but track will definately help you, especially if you’re being recruited.

Interesting. Hopefully other people will comment so we can see who is the most accurate chancer come March 30.

You should be good with most of the schools. But everyone knows that HYP are pretty subjective. I wouldn’t say a longshot, given that you are Hispanic that will benefit you. You do have the generic EC’s though and there is no devotion. National Merit will help.

Please chance me:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1063409-chances-uva-will-chance-back.html#post1066180073

i think one of the HYPS schools will accept you!
good luck

You think I show no devotion? I think I’m pretty devoted to XC and track, but I guess that’s a problem if I’m not showing it. I guess track and XC are somewhat generic though. Thank you for your opinion.

Yeah, I agree, HYP schools are random but you have a good shot are likely to get into one.

I guess what I’m trying to say is that you could very well be an athlete who is going to be devoted, but there are others who are going to be just as devoted. I have the same problem on my resume; I feel like I’m the generic applicant.

I didn’t articulate well. You show devotion, but there has to be more than just what’s listed. Maybe what caused you to pursue it more in the essay. Get where I’m going?

Yep, I definitely get where you’re going. Thank you!

I think you deff have a better chance than most with the URM and 4.0 UW. How are you only 5th in class though?
But, if your only EC is track than that may be a problem. Yes you were very successful, but if your not going to be very active in a lot of clubs they atleast like to see if you were president of 1 or 2 and or captain of the track, XC, and indoor track or something. Idk. I dont know how colleges will look if they only see that one main e.c. But congrats none the less your a solid applicant.

Thank you. At my school class rank is weighted so there are 4 people who took AP classes freshman year and now have higher weighted GPA’s weighted than me.

Also, I am captain of the Track and Cross Country teams (if you didn’t see that).

Your objective academic scores are great in both the GPA and SAT sense, and you have a clear focus in your EC’s on track and XC, with honors in both (congratulations on tht btw). They are all tough schools but I think at least one of HYPS will accept you, at least they have no reason to disregard you, but as everyone has said it’s a bit of a random process it seems. Dartmouth you’re in, you have to be, or else I dont stand a chance
good luck tho

Pretty much agree with everyone else here. Track and XC are definitely a boost along with being hispanic. You should get in to at least one of HYP. Good luck to you

Thanks everyone. Any other opinions?

You’re hispanic?

That adds like…200 points onto your SAT score! hahaha jk
But it does help tremendously.
I honestly think you have a good shot at all of them. Just because of your ethnicity.
If you weren’t hispanic, all of them would’ve been reaches.
Although you seem like a strong applicant. Write amazing essays!

Thanks guys. Is it really that much of a boost?

Very solid SATs + Amazing SAT IIs +Amazing Gpa + Great AP scores.

Also URM and all state athlete.

That alone is great. Only problem is a lack of other activities. I’d say you get into minimum 0 (would be very surprised) and maximum 3 (wouldn’t be too surprised).

haha i have no clue, but good luck, WISH i had your application
