I hate to do this, but. . .

When I first found this site, I swore I'd never be one of those annoying kids who asked for chances. But I've been looking at Cornell stats again, and since it's my first choice, I've really become intimidated. So help, please? Gets off soapbox

(Also, is anyone here in Human Biology in HumEc, or just HumEc, for that matter?)

Female
Christian school 9-12(Ga)
First generation student

I'm applying primary/alternate to CAS and HumEc. I'm up in the air about which will be first, though, becuase I'd be estatic at either.

Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.16
No Ranking

SAT I: 2110 (690 CR, 650 M, 770 W) (I'll probably take it again in November, depending on my IIs come out.)
SAT II: Taking lit and math II in October.
ACT: 32

I took AP U.S. History and AP Chem last year, and got a 5 on History and a 3 on Chem.

My schedule for this year:

Bible(Required)
AP Calc AB
AP Bio
AP English
Forensics
Economics(1st semester)/AP U.S. Gov(2nd)
Speech/art(Required)

I'm taking pretty much the hardest classes I can at my school; I've taken 6 out of 7 of the APs we offer, and the seventh is art.

Extracurricular:
Literary Team (10-12); I wrote Personal and Argumentative essays, placed in both for my region.

225 hours as a summer camp counselor, 110 hours as a hospital volunteer, and I've gone on service trips for the last three years during spring break.

I've been published multiple times in high school, both on a local newspaper and the school quarterly. I've also participated in NaNoWriMo both this year and last, and, while not really a great accomplishment, I think it's something that makes me stand out.

Internship for a local paper last summer.

Varsity Soccer (9-10)

Academic Bowl Team and School's One Act Play Competition(12); I would have done them before, but this is the first year for the Bowl Team, and the first year non-drama students have been allowed to try out for One Act.

Key/Service Club (9-12); Club secretary this year.

Culture Club (9-12); Secretary this and last year.

Science Club(9-12)

Student Government(11-12) Secretary last year, class representative this year.

People to People Student Ambassador

Awards:
Multiple School Awards for Academic Honors
PSAT commended student

average scores+ average ECs = average chances lmao

I think you stand a good shot. Your stats were similar to mine and I’m here. Your essays are going to play a large role because it seems that you don’t have any definitive/genuine interests. You’re going to want to stray away from the “laundry list” type applications and hone in on why HumEc and what you’ve done in HS to pursue said interest.

just improve your SAT score and write a good essay. because really you fit the profile of a cornell student, it is just those extra measures that would get you in.
