The only reason I made it is that I'm a Mexican immigrant, whereas my best friend didn't because he's white so, in the eyes of UCLA, his 4.4/1480/800/770/750 is **** compared to my 3.8/1350/800/720/570.

Oh yeah, this other hispanic at my schools with like a 1110 and 3.0 got in......stupid UCLA!!!!

Sadly, UCLA does admit hispanic students w/ sats of 1100 and lower and 3.0's. I am kind of angry that I worked my a** off and got stellar grades while some of my friends who are also hispanic w/ 3.5 GPA and low test scores got in. I feel like I shouldn't even have worked hard because I would have got in anyways. Some of the people who got in didn't even try that hard during high school. For example, some of the people that got in got a 1 on the AP Calculus exam. HTF can someone not score higher than a one on the AP Calculus exam.
However, not all the hispanic people that got into UCLA are underqualified. There are some hispanic people that are actually quite smart. It is wrong to just assume that an hispanic kid got into a prestigious school like UCLA because of their hispanic background.

Appeal your acceptance...go and tell them that you don't deserve it. In fact, don't go to UCLA anyway since you hate it so much. Don't waste my parent's tax dollars (as well as other Californians) and go to a private school instead. That sounds like the best solution.

eiffel's got it nailed. plus, are you posting this just to prove your heartfelt, passionate friendship? do it some other way. this is f***'in cheap. Go cry on someone else's shoulder.

Purplechick: They will eat dust at UCLA. UCLA wants to diversify their student population? That's absolutely fine with me. No doubt however that there will be UCLA drop outs and UCLA would have made money on tuition and room and board. Don't worry. You didn't work hard for nothing; college may not be easier, but it will be managable with a strong academic foundation.

Kudos to you for working hard and do not let the easy path fool you.

Yeah well I'm ****ed cuz we thought we had four years of greatness ahead.....

eiffelguy87, I'm still waiting for all those privates but I promise you that if I get in, I'm going because I can't stand this reverse-racist state anymore!

Do honestly think that being of a certain race means that you will succeed in college? Honestly, does being a certain race automatically mean that you know the material? Will being Chinese, Hispanic, Caucasian, African, etc. mean that you know what a polyprotic acid is simply because of race?

What's the point of working hard? You learn how to deal with life and cope with it instead of moping around and complaining about it. You learn to accept that things aren't fair sometimes and you learn how to manage it, move on, and succeed in other things.

To Twitb : Haha, U get rejected also. Isn't that so funny ? LOL.
To eiffelguy87: Race does not decide how much someone knows or whether to succeed in life or not. So let it not be a factor in college admission. Let the person who works harder get in. I think that's also what all people, even u hope for.
Life is not fair itself, and you need to speak your feelings out before you can go on freely.
I think Mzlover3 agrees with me. Well my friend, you are already well-qualified, it has nothing to do with u being Mesican.

I'm asian, and I got into UCLA b/c my stats are good. However, I'll probably get rejected from the Ivies and stanford, etc, while someone who's an URM gets in w/ lower stats. Am I bitter? No. Sure, there are many URM ppl who take advantage of the system, but more URM do come from poorer families, worse neighbor hoods, etc. I, on the other hand, had my education handed to me w/ ease. It was just up to me to either blow off my opportunities, or use them wisely. So if I had more opportunities than someone else, but I ended up not much more ahead of them, then I say, by all means, give that college spot to them. they deserve it.
