OregonMom,
I'm hoping that USNA is just waiting to do Oregon later, and not that Jake (and I) have been put off! It would be interesting if we both heard around the same time, hopefully with both of us receiving appointments.

So my parents got a letter saying that I'm "scholastically qualified". My BGO tells me I'm Triple Q'ed, but my packet has yet to go before the board.

Strange that they didn't send it to my school address, which is what they have on the CIS page...

DMeix-Something's going on (or not) with Texas. My son had everything complete by Oct, has received three scholastically qualified letters, has a congressional and Presidential nom and his BGO told him last week his record has still not been looked at! No one on this site from TX seems to have received an appointment yet, even the kids with LOAs-correct me if I'm wrong.

We were up for the candidate weekend--they told one parent that only about 10% are offered an appointment prior to April. My son received his apointment a few weeks ago, but said he didn't meet anyone else in the group there for the weekend that had gotten one. And from the questions the parents were asking, it sounded like most were still waiting. Good luck to all -- my son sent in his acceptance of the appointment this morning.

jtipton's numbers sound right. USNA has told many parents on many occasions that only about 200 LOA's are issued - and they fall between Sept. and usually are out by Feb.....and we know 1500 Appointments are issued.

I know it's easy for me to sound all calm, with this process all done at our end ( acceptance to the appointment was sent weeks ago) - but we have many friends/families waiting for their appointments and we are waiting/praying/hoping along with you, trusting we can all rejoice together come I-Day!

I meant "thin". I have been on slimfast for two weeks and my brain is not 100%. I figure that if Jake goes to Annapolis, I don't want to be fat and sweaty when I go with him. If he ends up in San Diego, I don't want to be fat and "white" when I bring him there. So, its slimfast for me.

Oregon Mom, I am thinking the same thing....I don't want to show up and have everyone pity the poor plebe with the fat mother! Worse, I get to hand Spider his diploma at HS graduation and I don't want to look like a whale in a black robe!

Just don't use Slimfast protein. It tastes like a vitamin. My youngest son is helping me by saying "you can't eat, remember you're fat". I just love him as he is eating all of his valentines chocolates in front of me.

peskemom- when you say 1500 appointments are issued do you mean that 1500 appointments have already been given out? If this is not what you mean do you know how many have been given out so far? Just curious.

1500 total appointments each year, so if roughly 10% get them by February, about 150 have been given out. I got mine in the end of February last year.

Foreswear OregonMom....foreswear when it comes to dark chocolate!!! This comes from one who in college weighed 50 pounds more than I do now!!!!!

Oregon Mom- well, this might help you to pass the waiting time away.

Did you know that dark chocolate is better for you? Well it is, relatively speaking that is. It has a much lower glycemic index than milk chocolate (not to get too technical here, but it means it does not raise the insulin production as much as milk chocolate, thus not as many cravings for even more carbs after it's eaten!) Now isn't that good news?

What does drive it up is beer- light included- might want to change that to red wine (merlot anyone?)....and you get the benefit of it being heart-friendly! ;)

Now of course, moderation.......
as for me, once I start I can't stop, so I have to give all of my chocolate away....:(
