Can't tell you about the SAT score, but with a UMich GPA of 3.75, you should be fine. That's right around the average GPA, and won't hurt you at all.

They're definitely going to look at the essay. I went there this summer and had a little tour or whatever and the counselor who was fielding questions and stuff said everyone who wanted in should take both the new SAT and the new ACT....they said they probably won't place that much attention on the essay because they haven't had a chance to really analyze how the scores are working out yet, but they are going to see it.

In that context, "a UMich GPA" is a high school GPA reconfigured to it in terms that Michigan admissions looks at: no freshman or senior grades, core classes, and +'s and -'s become the base grade. The average GPA is around 3.8 to 3.9 for incoming high schoolers.
