Well if for some reason you're familiar with my profile I just received my ACT score from the June 14th test and received a composite score of 31. I was hesitant about retaking it, but after encouragement from a myriad of people I have set my sights on September 21. So my question is what is the best way to study? Trust me I know there are a thousand of these threads on here but my situation is unique enough to warrant its own thread. I do not know how to study, I have never done it and have no idea what people do. I see people with flash cards to prepare for a test or use cornell notes and I just don't understand how they use them effectively. Obviously you look at them and whatnot but I don't understand why you would look at material that's in the book on flash cards. Clearly I'm inept at study skills and I have optimistically placed my end goal at a 34, a winning combination! I have The Real ACT Prep Guide, the red book, and I intend to use that mainly to increase familiarity with the test and its type of questions but beyond that I think it's useless. Ignoring essay writing tips, how can one study effectively if they don't know how to?

Practice tests. Over and over. Just do one a week.
