I have 7mnths to prepare for the act....how should I do it

An hour a day is a good goal. Here’s the plan I would take.

Get the Real ACT Guide (6 former ACT exams w/explanations)

Download the 4 former exams that are freely available (here’s a list of them <a href=“Official ACT Practice Tests: Complete List of Public Tests - ACT Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>1)

Take the practice exams. Sometimes timed, sometimes un-timed. I encourage 1 test per month, 1 section per week, but feel free to go faster. Still, don’t let yourself get stressed and burned out, learning happens when your mind is rested, calm, and alert.

Review the answers that you missed. This is the most critical thing, you have to really understand your weaknesses in order to improve. There are usually many ways to solve a problem and many ways to mess it up. You may not have read all the answers, you may have been missing a critical piece of vocabulary, you may not have understood an important concept. Chances are that there are multiple ways you could have gotten the problem right. Your job is to find those, to be your own critic.

That’s it. Everything else you do (Princeton Review, College Confidential posting, praying) that’s all extra.

Have fun!
