Alright so i have a 3.95 uc gpa and a 1380 from the new sat. I got a 16 on the essay but did not take any sat subject tests. For my own highschool I have a 4.16 weighted and a 3.6 uw for 10-11. I’ve taken every hard class but have gotten a lot of bs. What are my chances for admissions to UCs? Any advice helps and thank you ps. Majoring in biology
Low for the most competitive UC’s like Cal or UCLA, average for Davis, Irvine, etc., high for Riverside.
Tooold4school what do u think my chances are for Santa Barbara and San Diego? Personally I feel like they are a reach
Top UC’s are Reaches due to competitiveness of the major and low acceptance rates. Mid-tier UC’s could go either way and your target schools would be UC Santa Cruz, Riverside and Merced. Your UC GPA is within range but below the averages for all but the target UC’s listed. SAT score within range and solid for most of the UC’s.
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19(capped weighted) and not major specific:
UCB: 14%
UCLA: 14%
UCSD: 44%
UCSB: 54%
UCD: 58%
UCI: 65%
UCSC: 85%
UCR: 94%
UCM: 96%
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT:
UCB: 1280-1490
UCLA: 1280-1500
UCSD: 1250-1470
UCSB: 1290-1450
UCD: 1190-1430
UCI: 1190-1420
UCSC: 1170-1380
UCR: 1090-1310
UCM: 1020-1230
Hopefully you applied widely to the UC’s and you have some exceptional essays. Best of luck.
Also, UCSD is very competitive for biological science majors–the admit rate for people applying to biological sciences majors is probably lower than the 44% shown above…
You are pretty much the definition of ‘average’ applicant to a UC. Cross your fingers for UCSB, what a great place for college!
Thanks for the feedback! I applied to all 9 ucs so I hope one of the mid tiers will go in my favor.
