I have a dilemma.... PWC or small local firms?

Hi guys,

I'm a sophomore, and currently just started looking for summer internships for 07 (I know it's a little late). Basically I have two options right now:

1) Go to China to do an internship at PWC's financial advisory division;

2) Stay in the US and find an internship locally (but not going to be as prestigious as PWC, since I'm only a sophomore, and most companies only accept Juniors.)

I was considered for the internship in China because I know someone who already works there. Is it bad that I use this advantage? Or should I stay in the US and do some smaller, less known companies, and get a better internship in my Junior year?

Your advice are appreciated!

PWC all the way. Not only do you get to have big 4 experience on ur resume, you also get valuable international experience. Btw, how were you able to get an internship in China? I was actually trying to find an internship in Japan myself.

PwC no doubt.

yea i'm interested in that too...i'm trying to get an internship in China or HK ...

Thanks for the replies guys. Like I said in my post, I was considered only because I know someone who works there already. I've tried the whole cold email thing, and they've all told me that they are not really looking for interns (one lady from Boston Consulting Group told me that they haven't had any interns, whether undergrad or MBA, in the past 4 years).

So it is very hard to get an internship in China, unless if you have some kind of connections. Good luck.
