Let's say you apply to NYU Early Decision, and then, get rejected, can you apply to other school's ED2 such as the ED2 program at Middlebury!!!?

Thanks!

Yes. That’s exactly the point of ED2. You’re permitted to apply ED2 anywhere as long as you did not get in somewhere ED1.

That is pretty cool wow, I did not know that. Thank you.

Sorry, another question: Is the acceptance rate for ED2 better than for ED1??? How do they compare?? How about comparing ED2 with RD!? Can I apply to other schools RD while applying to lets say, Middlebury ED2? (for my brother, he is in love with Middlebury for some odd reason!?)

Not sure at all about acceptance rates, but I would imagine that the ED2 rate is lower than ED1 rate at most schools. As for ED2 compared to RD, I have no idea! haha sorry.

Yes, you can apply to other schools RD if applying to Middlebury (or anywhere for that matter) ED2. If you are accepted ED2 to a school, however, you must withdraw the RD apps. And Middlebury is a great school. Good luck to your brother! I almost applied there and have a couple friends going this year. Also, if he happens to apply and happens to get in, only to enter in the February term (this is a Midd thing), he should not be discouraged at all. In fact, the February admits tend to perform very well at Middlebury and fit in too!

Oh wow, your’re such a help. (My brother is reading this thread over my shoulder lol). When applying to Middlebury can you apply to their ED2 Program, and check off that you want to start in February? Will that increase one’s chances to admittance? haha we still have to convince our father that liberal arts schools aren’t a joke sigh pakistani parents. But it is my brother’s problem, not mine, I was cajoled into applying to big name schools. I regret not putting Middlebury on my app!

Hahaha Pakistani parents. My parents are also South Asian and it took some convincing to get them to allow me to place Middlebury, Davidson and Carleton on the list. Regardless, I did not end up applying to any of the three, but I do understand your situation.

From what I remember on the Middlebury App (I finished about half of it before getting in to certain schools EA and deciding not to apply) you could check off that you did not want to enter in February, but there was no box to check off that you would ONLY enter in February.

And it seems like your parents decision to have you apply to big name schools did not seem so bad in the end–you are entering NYU Stern next fall! And that is a great school. :)

If there is any chance whatsoever that you will need financial aid, do not apply anywhere ED. Not ED1. Not ED2. Only apply RD and to Rolling Admissions schools (apply to those as early as possible so that you increase your chances of decent financial aid).

We parents are tired, very, very tired, of reading the threads that start “How do I get out of my ED commitment? My family can’t pay what my ED school expects us to be able to.”

Not to sound snobby, but our family is responsible enough to have started a college fund since I was a small baby.

Good to know, NiraliMag. Now, good luck to your brother and be sure to PM me if you have any other questions.

Oh yeah, thank you so much. I am glad to know Middlebury’s ED2 rate is 38%. Better for me!
