I heard many times that Asians have to beat the stereotypes to gain advantages in college admission process.

What stereotypes do whites, African Americans and Hispanics have to beat?

What stereotypes do whites, African Americans and Hispanics have to beat?

Whites, African-Americans and Hispanics have to get that chip off their respective shoulders. You should try it!

I am asking the question because of thread like this.

Another question about race in college admissions, what if you beat the stereotypes?

“So I knew a kid who was my teammate last year, he was technically Azn but he was unique compared to the other Asian people I knew.

Stereotype says that Asians are supposed to be smart, studious, always concerned about grades and more inclined to take part in a lot of activities like math club and science clubs.

Now my teammate was a tight end for our football team and he was pretty good at the position, he ran a 4.8 fourty and he was about 6"3 (pretty big for an asian person). Now he also was on the basketball team, he rarely played but he was an average player. Dude wuz born in India and then brought to the states when he was in elementary school.

He had like a 3.7 something GPA and he managed to study for the SATs and made a 2200 on them. The dude did something you wouldn’t see many Asians do, he played sports like football and basketball, he joined the comedy club and made people laugh (his accent was funny enough, we used to call him Borat), and he was social and knew almost everyone around the school.

He got accepted into a lot of Ivies like Brown, Princeton, Cornell and Columbia while another Asian who graduated valedictorian (4.0 GPA and a 2300 something SAT score) got turned down from Princeton, Brown and Columbia.

If you beat the stereotypes does it help?”

A white kid from a prep school or elite public in well represented states faces the same odds as Asians.

A lot of black and hispnic kids have to beat the poverty cycle and poor schools.
