I've had a belly ache since this morning and I just threw up and I have a persistent cough due to my throat infection. I doubt I can sit in that testing room for more than 10 minutes without having to leave. I have a history exam in about an hour and I don't know what to do. I will most likely miss it because I don't want to puke on everyone while they're testing. What can I do? help! :(

If possible, go to your professor and explain this. They might be able to offer an alternative time for you to take the exam. If you can’t go in person, email or call instead. Also go to the doctor, and while you’re there make sure to ask for a note explaining your condition.

Sorry you’re sick during finals. Best of luck pulling through.

I would ask for an alternate date. People understand if you have been a responsible student .

I only have 30 minutes. I don’t think I can contact the professor. And from my past experience, he rarely likes to get in contact. I’m not very happy with my grade in his class anyways so Im thinking of dropping now and receiving a W on my transcript. I rather have a W than a low grade due to a missed final that would bring my GPA down. Besides, I spoke with my english professor yesterday and she said it’s nearly impossible to reschedule. I’d have to contact the dean, and file paper work with my parents.

If you want, you can go to your final and talk to your teacher, while coughing all over the place (bonus points for coughing up blood or throwing up) and hopefully then they’ll understand this is serious and let you leave.

Go to the doctor (or a health center on campus), get a note, contact the school. You should be able to retake it on a different day.

At my own colleges the final exam schedule is set by the registrar. If you’d need to get an exam rescheduled due to illness, you would go through the Dean’s Office. The Dean would give you permission to take the exam after the exam period, authorize a temporary Incomplete on your transcript and notify the professor that you are eligible to take the exam at a later date. Also, at my college you would not be allowed to withdraw from a class during finals week.

If you didn’t go to the final exam, I would follow proper procedure at your school:
- email the professor and/or a dean
- see a doctor, take care of yourself and get a note saying that you were actually sick, in case you need evidence to back up your case

I wasn’t allowed to drop the class.

So I decided to man up and go anyways. I took some cough drops and a bottle of water just in case. I was sitting in the classroom, studying my completed review packet when the professor walks in and announces we could use our notes. I’d finished the review completely from multiple choice to essay questions. People around me were kicking themselves for not bringing their notes. I’m pretty sure I made an A. :)

Congratulations! Glad you got a happy ending. :)

Good for you for getting through it!

Congratulations! Nice to hear a happy ending
