I have a little problem.

So I'm a California resident and because of price almost all of my choices are in state. California has strict admission requirements and I have plans to make up all but one of my Ds which is second semester algebra 2. I was supposed to make it up this summer but I guess I turned in my application for summer school too late and I didn't get in. I can't take it in cyber high like my other 4 Ds. I'm going to be a senior in the fall. I don't know what to do. Can you guys suggest anything?

Can you attend community college for two years and transfer to a state university later, if you’re not accepted?

Well my main reason is to to go to college is to move out and Cali rent is to expensive to move out on my own. A dorm would me a lot better. CCs aren’t bad but I don’t want to stay at home for another 2 years.

Some of the CA community colleges have residence halls. If you are willing to do a little research, you can find out which ones they are, and how much living on campus will cost you.

If your main reason for going to college is to move out? Then just get a job and move out. Given your grades (so many Ds) it’s clear that at this time in your life, academics are not your main focus. Until you actually want to focus on academics, why spend the money on them?

The reason I want to move out and have bad grades is because of my home situation. I got ok grades freshman year when I was living with other family. I want to focus on school while I’m young.

I looked into the CC a little bit and some seem promising. SBCC has an off campus dorm and most CCs had at least housing resources.
