I’m a junior and I currently have a 3.30 and my weighted is 3.95. I go to a school with a tough curriculum and I have always taken honors or AP classes. I really want to get into UMD but now I don’t know if i can make it. I do a lot of volunteer work and my SAT and ACT scores are 2120 and 32 respectively. I’m really nervous, any advice would truly be appreciated.
The website for UMD says the following;
*"The admitted freshman students have a strong A-/B+ or better average in their high school coursework and enrolled in the most challenging courses available to them including honors, Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses.
For students admitted to the University of Maryland for the Fall 2015 semester, the middle 50% of SAT scores ranged from 1260 to 1420, and 29-33 on the ACT. As a result 25% of the admitted students scored below a 1260 on the SAT and 25% scored above a 1420."*
Even if your GPA is on the low end, it appears to me that you are pretty much in the range they describe, so I would say you are competitive for that school.
The rest of the way you present yourself including the essays may determine.
I got in with a slightly higher UW GPA and a lower act (29) I would say that you have a really good shot!
You’ll probably be accepted. I wouldn’t count on admission to any of the select programs, or to the Honors College, though.
you’ll get in without a doubt
