Essays: From what I've been told by my college counselor and others my essays are absolutely STELLAR, even compared to other kids who got into similar schools that I'm looking at.

ECs
-Opened/founded three of my own online stores (paintball). Each has grown to be recognizable in New England. I manage them with my business partner (also a teen). This is probably my big hook as I've started 3 companies w/ business licenses, wholesale licenses, bank accounts, business partnership agreements, liability insurance, etc. I've been working on my stores for approximately 3 years
-Compete in paintball at the national and regional (New England) level. I'm captain of my team, which has placed top 4 in 12 events that we've entered (mostly regional). This is tournament style, competitive paintball, not woodsball.
-Varisty Basketball
-Varsity Track- 6th for High Jump at New Englands (class C), 7th for Long Jump
-Camp Counselor Assistant (Community service, over 150 hours)
-Internship with Bank of America (all other kids were college seniors from Ivy league schools (I got the internship from a connection)) 8 full 40 hour weeks. GREAT recommendation written for me.
-Completed 12 of Bank of America's online courses for their employees, passed tests on all of them receiving certificates of merit.
-Highest fundraiser at a Relay for Life event (over $3000)
-Have traveled to over 30 foreign countries
-Math Club (Highest scoring competitor at school, earned state distinction, 4 years)
-Diversity club (member for 3 years)
-Summer immersion program in France (3 weeks in Nice, 5 hours of class per day)
-Various other community service work
-National commendation for PSATs
-Model UN club (2 yrs)
-Play drums (2 yrs)
-Received distinction as first snowboarder EVER to complete the Talons Challenge at Beaver Creek (have a plaque on a wall there)

Chance me and I'll chance you back!!!
Schools:

Harvard (w/ recs from important alum)
Yale (Legacy, father VERY involved w/ school)
Penn
Duke
Emory
Georgetown (EA)
Brown
Columbia
U-Mich
Villanova (EA)
BC (EA)

anyone? come on I chanced like 10 people and no one returned the favor?

I’d say you have just about as good of a shot as anyone with your credentials and ECs. I have one question, however, have you considered SCEA for Yale since your EA schools are just about safeties. Your alumni status would definitely help more during SCEA even though deadline is quickly approaching. I’d say you’ll probably get in at all of your schools besides maybe 2 or 3 of your ivy choices.

Good chances at all but I believe Georgetown has restrictive early action

Same as above! But great chances at all, good luck and to be honest, I’m jealous, lol.

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/582101-chance-carnegie-mellon-ed-i-ll-chance-back-if-ud-like.html

cedarcliff- I’m an important enough legacy that I’m basically guaranteed to get into yale. Since yale is restrictive, I decided to apply to safeties with regular decision, along with georgetown which I loved. Harvard, Yale, and Georgetown are probably my top 3 choices as of now, along with maybe Brown. I opted not to apply ED anywhere, so I went with Georgetown EA (only restricts you from applying ED) and a couple of safeties. Thanks guys!

Also, I’m clearly interested in undergrad business programs and highly competitive economics programs.

bumper stickers

boooomp please?

I think you’ll likely get Yale- given the legacy.
You are above Yale’s average SAT (1495) which helps a lot.

thanks
any more would be greatly appreciated

You should almost definitely be in at Yale. Most likely everywhere else but Yale is probably a guarantee

wow. wow. you’ll probably end up getting into all of them except maybe Harvard, Brown, Penn, and Duke because you just never know. I say Yale is a definite possibility/very likely.

Harvard (w/ recs from important alum) - crapshoot
Yale (Legacy, father VERY involved w/ school) - it’s a reach, but a VERY realistic one. you’ll probably get in
Penn - reach
Duke - low reach
Emory - high match
Georgetown (EA) - low reach/high match
Brown - reach
Columbia - reach
U-Mich - low match and not safety because you’re out of state
Villanova (EA) - safety
BC (EA) - match

just know that Georgetown and BC are restrictive EA, just like Yale, so you can’t apply to all three.

good luck!

^I think that about sums it up. Honestly, with those credentials the only schools I could see rejecting you is Harvard, (not that they should reject you), but sometimes stuff just happens with that school. Also, I doubt they’re short on white male applicants from MA prep schools. Just how important is that alum? But yeah, Yale shouldn’t be an issue.

The alum is THE leading scientist in his field of study and a close family friend.

Also, my father completed the JD/MBA program at Harvard, but I am unsure of whether this counts as a legacy?

Also, BC and Georgetown are only restrictive in that they do not allow you to apply ED anywhere, but you can apply EA to other schools if you wish.

Upppppppppppppppp

You probably shouldn’t put that Beaver Creek award in there. Beaver Creek is so easy i can ski that whole mountain backwards (haha not really but Beaver Creek doesn’t have much street cred). It just sounds like more of an essay topic sort of thing… You chanced me so heres my opinion of u: u have a good shot. But how am i supposed to know? I’m just as clueless as you are.

i think the only reach for you is harvard you are a match for everywhere else you have an amazing app good luck!
