I have a question about my chances for a lot of financial aid

I received 36600 from a school who's average aid package is 18633 (according to collegboard.com)
does that mean that i will (hopefully) get a bit above the average for other schools?

Each school is independent. You can’t look at what one school gives and project what another school will give.

Some schools have more money, some schools will reward your stats, etc.

Which school gave your $36,600?

What is your EFC?

What are your other schools?

Is it possible that the $18633 estimate is only for a semester and the $36600 is for the entire school year?

^^^
No, the estimates are annual.

BTW…no one should really look at estimates to determine what they’ll get. Some kids could get $50k full-rides and some could get a few grand, but the reported “average” could be somewhere around $25k. So, “average” doesn’t mean a thing to the kids who only got a few grand.

Also, a students stats or specific desirability can play a lot into his aid package. Two kids with the same “need” may get vastly different aid packages. The one with high stats may get all needs met, while the one with modest stats may get a lousy FA package.
