i have a question

Do you have a better chance to get into West Point if you get nomination from both Congressman AND Senator, or do you have the equal chance of getting into West Point with just one nomination?

I would think there is an equal chace of getting into West Point with just one nomination.

The nomination process is complex and confusing at times.
You need a nomination to be awarded an appointment. Academy admissions directs applicants to seek all nominations for which they are eligible.
So, while you only need one you must seek a nominations from all eligible sources which include both senators and your representative.

When all the dust clears and they decide to appoint you - then admissions will have a lot more flexibility if you have applied for all nominations and have indeed received more than one nomination.

Your question, though makes me curious - most MOC's handle their applications in tandem with each other. In other words, if the applications are all due within a few weeks you would not know if you received a nomination from a senator before your congressman's packet is due - and vice versa.
In fact in some states they sort of work together - a Congressman will not nominate you if he knows a Senator will - but you won't know that.

Bottom line - applying to all MOC's not only give you more flexibility in receiving a nomination but should you in fact get two nominations then the academy has more flexibility with an appointment.

The thing to rememeber is that without an LOA, a fully qualified candidate not only needs to receive a nomination, but needs to be "top dog" in the candidate pool he/she is applying to, to automatically receive an appointment. The more sources he/she applies to, the better his/her chance of winning one. (House Representative nomination pools are often less competitive than Senate nomination pools.) Those who are nominated but are not "top dog" are added to the National Waiting List and then compete for an appointment from that pool.

If a candidate is lucky enough to be "top dog" in more than one pool then WP has flexibility in who they assign as the nomination source.
