I have a situation...

OK, so basically my problem is that I haven't sent in my application yet mainly because I wanted UMich to see my mid-yr grades and take them into account. Because of this, I waited to send in my app around this week, instead of earlier. Well I just realized that UMich gets a whole lot more competitive as time goes on since its rolling (I always thought that it didn't really matter when you applied, it would be the same level competition-wise). Should I try and explain this somehow? or should I just wait and hope for the best?
By the way, the weakest part of my app is my ranking (107/875) because of my poor freshmen year grades and mediocre soph yr. I'm doing very well this term with the hardest courseload I have taken to date (4APs) and will probably get the highest avg out of all my HS years. This is why I really wanted umich to see my mid-yr grades.

Here are my stats btw:

GPA: 3.81 Umich Gpa excluding frosh yr.
SATs: 1420/2080
SAT IIs: USH- 760, WH- 730, Chem- 700 (I don't know if these matter)
AP: USH- 5, Chem- 4
Decent ECs
Essays should be good but nothing amazing.
Applying to LSA as prospective economics or asian studies major.
OOS from NY

Should I begin to worry?

I don't really know, but I'd think waiting any longer is risky, especially since you're out of state. But hey, if it makes you feel any better, I'll probably send in my Michigan app a week or so before the deadline.

waiting was definitely not a good idea. you would've had a good chance toward the beginning. I think the worst they would've done back then is defer you and then your mid-year grades would've been taken into account anyway.

my advice to everyone with these "is it too late?" threads is to send it anyway if it's a place you truly want to go. it certainly can't hurt.

I dont think explaining anything will help. Also, michigan doesnt take into account freshman year..so that may help. Also..if it looks like you're improving yr by yr..that'll look good for you. good luck, you still have a pretty decent chance.

Thanks for the responses everybody.
One last question though. If Umich doesn't consider freshmen yr grades, does that mean they will kind of disregard my ranking since it includes my freshmen yr? Especially since my ranking is low due to mostly frosh yr.

Thanks, and I plan on sending my app in ASAP.
