I have a story

Hey guys !
So I’m a girl from a third world , pretty conservative country. Where I come from, women aren’t given the most opportunities to participate in sport. So through six years of highschool, I formed my own tennis team in my community. I played for my local women’s tennis association and won two tournaments twice in my last two years of high school. I had to go against societal pressures to pursue the sport and I really wanna continue this professionally.

As I am an international student, do you think it’s a waste of time for me to even dream of being recruited ? I’m not aiming for D1 ivy leagues, I was thinking of maybe mailing the coaches of tennis teams of some D3 ( preferably women’s ) schools. Do you think I should try this? How should I compose the email? Should I tell them my story? Thanks

You have very little chance of being recruited. Women’s tennis is highly competitive and most recruits are ranked.

You may have a chance of walking onto a team if you are admitted to the school. We really can’t tell if you are competitive from the information you provided.

@Mimi31 Your story sounds like the start of a solid essay for your application. There are opportunities for you to play tennis for fun at almost every college in the US.

You may not be recruited, and you probably won’t play D1 because they are tremendously talented, but there are plenty of fine academic schools with average or weak tennis programs that would love to make room for you. Not every institution is great at everything, so find one with a team at your athletic level that meets the rest of your needs and you should be fine. Honestly half the tennis teams are below average (Math!) and in D3 there are some really bad programs at the bottom of most conferences.
