i have a thread in washu and WAMC but then i found one just for transfers =]

hey guys Im a student from Vanderbilt and im finding more and more that this place isnt really fitting me. Im a second semester soph. and yes I know that its kinda late to be figuring this out but hey...to each his own. Im thinking about putting in apps to (WashU, Georgetown, Duke, perhaps NYU, and then UPenn, Yale, Cornell...yea...haha) I know that may seem like alot but if im gonna try to transfer might as well get all of them out there right? I was wondering if you guys could give me a rundown about my chances based on my stats

Major: Political Science

Minor: Philosophy

GPA:3.413 (sigh..first semester freshman year..) My first semester was a mess but Ive made Dean's List every semester henceforth if that helps

SAT: 1490/1600

Teacher recs: im sure I can get great ones just like every other applicant out there..haha

Activities: -was hall representative freshman year for InterHall which represents the dorms in terms of what we need, making ourselves heard in terms of activities planned, etc.

-Im a small group leader for a Christian group on campus but im not sure how much that weighs in for transfer considerations

-Im on the Vanderbilt Mock Trial team (heading up to Washu for regionals in fact)

im not sure what else to put...my essays will be good...and ill have all my forms in order...so if you guys could give me your input?

My friend who recently transferred there from Vanderbilt told me that apparently they really respect our institution and therefore was a bit easier to get in. Any truth to that?

I do appreciate everyones opinion and thanks for your time.

What don't you like about vandy? I personally wanted to transfer to Vandy for Econ major.
By the way, I am also trying to transfer with similar gpa of yours in cc, but people say that most top private schools want 3.5+ for consideration.
but I don't think you are so far off from the cut, I would definately give it a shot...

oh please dont misconstrue my post as a knock against Vandy in the least.
The people here are very nice, the campus is beautiful and my interaction with my Profs have been great. Its just that I grew up in a place similar to this and quite frankly I think I may need a bit of a change. Of course there are other reasons but nothing that would reflect poorly against the university, mostly just personal. If you have any questions dont hesitate to ask =] have a great day

thanks,
Do you know any transfer students who just got into Vandy?
what kind of stats do they have as far as gpa concerns?
Oh, to add to my upper reply, i heard that gpa is the most important factor in transfer decisions, but level of education from your previous school counts big time! EC's too... I am not sure how much it will help, but it definately helps a lot, I mean, Vandy is top 18th school accordingto US New ranking...
Best Luck!

no unfortunately I dont know of any transfers into Vandy this year. If i do hear of anybody though ill be sure to reply. Best of luck to you as well

any thoughts anyone?
