I have a very stupid question...

So...I will be living in a dorm next year (as a freshman).

The school that I will be attending is close to the city. Let's say that for some random reason I want to spend a friday in the city and I want to spend my night in a hotel instead of sleeping in my dorm. Am I actually allowed to do this?

(I wouldn't miss any classes).

:P

Yes, there is nothing holding you there. Its the same as going home.

Depends on the age required for checking in to said hotel in the state you will be attending school…

Different ages for different hotels/states…

^For NY/MA/FL/CA/VT…isn’t 18 okay?

^ You need to check with individual hotel chains; your mileage may vary…

For example, Marriott in NYC (think Courtyard, Fairfield Inn etc) will not allow 18 yr olds to check in by themselves…

In Florida, each individual hotel decides minimum age for check-in…

^^Unless, of course, they require a photo ID (think, driver’s license) upon check in…even with cash…

yes, the sleazier the hotel, the less likely of the check…

If the hotel lets you, then yeah, it’s fine. A dorm isn’t going to require you to come back by a certain time- they’re not your parents. If you don’t want to go back to your room one night, then you don’t have to.

Are you unsure if you’d be allowed, or what? You’re not at your parents’ house, lol. Yes, you can stay/go/sleep anywhere you want. You can even skip classes if you want to, believe it or not.

That is why leaving home to attend college is a major milestone . YOU get to decide what you want to do .

^ badass! :D
