I have always wanted to do something hands on..

Like the title says, I have always wanted to do something hands on, but I don't seem to have an interesting in engineering, or pre med.

But can business still be a good option?

I don't understand your question. "Hands on" doesn't mean "use of hands."

Actually, it does.

I'm pretty sure you use your hands in just about every job.

hands on, meaning working with a tool for example, that's why I was talked about engineering or pre med, they are both extremely hands on professions.

opposite of that would be a job that requires you to sit at your desk all day.

I don't know having your hand on a keyboard sounds attractive

Business is generally not for people who want to work with their hands.

Nope, business is definatley not hands on. You'll have to be okay with sitting at a desk and staring at a computer for longs hours...

Haha. When I first saw the title of this thread, the first thing that popped into my mind was JIFFY LUBE:).

lollllll!!!!!

I know engineers who sit and look at the computer for long hours...

depends what kind of engineer you are, really. I'm pretty sure computer engineers look at computers for long hours. Civil, on the other hand, is more hands-on. Even still, computers are very important in calculating and getting the necessary data..which of course you need in engineering.

Ok I see. When I read "hands on," I took it to mean "getting involved." So business (especially consulting) can be "hands on" in one sense. Just not so much in the use of hands sense. If you're artistic, you might find something in advertising/product design. I can't think of anything else.

Also, some civil engineers go to construction sites to supervise construction workers and make sure things are implemented as planned. Others are more office-type and do much of the designing (much like architects). Most probably do something in-between. While you might find that kind of balance in business, there really isn't anything that requires more than computer typing (and handshakes).
