So i am in what “they” say to be the most important year of my life and I am not doing so good. This is my first year taking honors science and math classes along with AP world history and AP Lang. I was in a lower level science and math class last year but I managed to move up to an honors class. The problem is that I have a B- in Math and B in chem. I also did a school sport for the first time in my life and started a club which are both time-consuming activities. Would colleges understand my situation here or are all my hopes for a top-tier college gone?
Top tier colleges are looking for any excuse to deny you acceptance. Unfortunately, the top schools will not be too forgiving for anything less than perfection. While your B’s are in STEM classes, if you can excel in liberal art classes and get good scores on AP tests or SAT II tests that can corroborate these skills, you may have a chance. Keep working to get those grades up. High school teachers often round you up if you make an effort. Seek help from them and you should realize positive results. Good luck!
Colleges do not want to hear excuses, except documented medical conditions.
Your situation appears to be lack of time management. That is not good.
