I have been charged with an honor code violation

I have been charged with an honor code violation, I was caught cheating on an AP Physics test, how drastically does this damage my college admissions process.

I don’t think the College Board can report instances of cheating to colleges unless your school takes direct action.

What about on my common application? My transcript must be given to the school I am applying to, so assuming they do know, how does this damage my application chances

Have you learned a lesson from this incident or are you only concerned about college admission chances?

Of course I regret my decision and will never repeat it, but there is no point in dwelling on my regret and just see how this effects my future

The colleges may want to Hear about your regret rather than you just being mum about the issue. If your school reports it you’ll need to address it.

Clarifying - did you cheat on the actual AP Physics exam, or on a test in your AP Physics class?

@GnocchiB I’m assuming the latter.
@epluribusunum13 In truth, it depends on how the school reports it. You still have a chance at community college however.

No one can say for sure how much it will impact your chances, but I can say for sure that it will negatively impact your chances.

Start with your GC. Some schools or districts have a policy against reporting disciplinary actions. Many will report. If you are on your game, you’ll look at the common app and find the section related to this and what you need to do.

If you’re a junior, you seriously need to turn this around. Put the effort into fixing the grade and repairing teacher relationships. That’s how you exert some control on your future. Even if your hs doesn’t report it, you have to earn some teacher respect back to get the right LoRs. Our reassurances would mislead you.
