I have been thinking...

After I read the humorous essay by the NYU acceptee, I began to think of ways I could spice up my already submitted application to Brown. Maybe an additional essay submitted by email, possibly even a sound file with me reading it, a song about Brown, or a number of other things, but just something that is really out there, and although may have little substance, can really bring that extra character.

So, I was thinking we could throw around some ideas for additional non-obligatory chance boosters. Whaddya say?

Call me crazy, but my own idea is already spinning wheels of spontanaity, and I have begun to write a song on guitar and keyboard about how I would be the match for Brown (it's mostly humorous). Does anyone have a sudden urge to stop me before I plunge into this irreversable pit of insanity?

Some of the people here might say it sounds like a good idea, but they're just sayin that because they want to make it one less candidate they're up against. HOWEVER... I got your back, STOP, forget you ever thought about a song (unless you are talented) and scheme up something else, anything else.

How about this: I'm almost finished. Once I'm done, could I send it to you for analysis?

umm u can send it to me for analysis, i wont be like simon.

No doubt, I'll analyze it in a heartbeat. I just might become the next big thing in songwriting, and hey you caught me at the best time : BEFORE IM FAMOUS , so that means I will do it :) (Are you serious? If you are I still got you)

Two things:

Admissions decisions are surely done by now.

HELL NO! Are you insane?? Unless you belong on American Idol, this is completely a bad idea.

Austin, lighten up, we know anonomous is playin. ( YOU ARE, ARENT YOU?!?!)

Guess what? NOT A JOKE! I have approximately half a song written and recorded. Anybody who would like a listen just say so.

I want to listen to it.

Hmm so if you would like to listen you should probably post your screen name or something so I can send it.

Alright guys, I think I finished the song. I know there a bunch of people who will yell at me "DON'T DO IT" but do me a favor and give it a listen first.

I'm thinking of sending it with a serious cover letter, aka "I believe there may have been some absent information regarding my qualifications to your university... etc etc."

So, if you could give me just a couple minutes of your time, I would really appreciate it.

i'm interested. if you still want someone to listen to it, you can pm me and i'll give you my e-mail address. it's very likely that they've already evaluated your application, though.

Yea, Ill give it a listen too. On the flipside, if it is a though-out song it just could give you an edge if you are a somewhat average applicant to an ivy. But on the real tip, PM me and ill give you my e-mail too

I Want To Listen! My Sn Is In My Profile

wow I didn't know that when you type in all-caps, only the first letter of every word you type is capitalized. which makes you look like a douche because you don't know foundational punctuation rules

Anyone else care to give a listen?

Alright guys, last chance for a critique before I send it off.

That's right, I'm actually sending a song to an Ivy League University explaining why they should let me in. It's crazy, it's irrational, and I know it.

This should be interesting.

anono, there was an article somewhere about an applicant who did an AMAZING puppet show on video tape about h is life story and mailed it. The adcom loved it - but was ****ed they had to find the equipment to enjoy it. just a thought.

Eh I'm not so worried about that. It shouldn't be too hard for them to find something that plays cds/
