I've been looking for colleges on CollegeBoard and sites like these and whatnot and I am at a stand still. I need some match/target school and maybe a few reaches. The list that I have I think are too "reachy".
I just want schools based on my academic record.

These are my stats:

3.3 GPA
1850 on SAT, 670 Reading, 560 Math, and 620 Writing.
All my classes are Magnet Advanced classes.

You should specify what you want to study, what size and kind of school (LAC or Uni) you want, what kind of setting (urban/rural, etc.) and area of the country you prefer. It would also help to know whether you have financial constraints, and relevant to that, what your home state is.

I’ll be honest with you. Your stats aren’t high enough to attract a super financial package from many schools - because “generous” schools tend to be the most selective ones.

I like Rhodes, but I don’t know if they meet 100% of need without a bunch of loans (anyone know??).

You may not “like” the idea of going to UGa or another state school, but there’s no reason for you to rack up student loan debt just to go out-of-state when you have equal/better and cheaper schools in your state. If you’re considering student loans, have you figured out what your repayment costs will be each month for 10 years?

Certainly apply to some OOS schools, but you absolutely have to apply to a couple of in-state publics as “financial safeties,” just to be safe. You don’t want to find yourself in the spring looking at a bunch of rather hollow FA packages that are mostly student loans.

@mom -
Rhodes does not commit to meeting 100% of need for all students. The average need met is around 85%, but it goes as high as 110%+ for some students. Loans can be a part of the financial aid package at Rhodes, most often subsidized and unsubsidized staffords. Average debt at graduation is around $25k for those who took out loans.

Your stats limit what schools that you’ll likely get accepted to, but you still have choices. However, many/most of those schools can’t meet need. That wouldn’t be good in your case, since your family could not help you with that.

You’re from a single-parent family. If that parent doesn’t earn much, and your EFC is 0, the you could get some grants.

Wouldn’t you get in-state college tuition thru lottery money? Or would you need higher stats?
