I have no ECs...kinda screwed?

Sophomore year is about to end for me and I have no appealing ECs...

So far, my ECs are
Founder and president of my school's MUN team (really weak. our competitiveness is a joke)
tutoring at the public library (2 hours per week)
JV Tennis 2 years. 99% certain I will make varsity next year
Founder and president of table tennis club

I would appreciate it if someone could recommend me some ECs that would look good on a college app. Thanks.

You’re already doing better than I was at the end of Sophomore year. xD

That’s plenty good enough… Colleges like to see depth rather than breath. If you want to hit that volunteering chord that Ivys and LACs like so much, try to teach kids tennis for free. That one might look good. Even if you don’t, you’ll be fine.

For what it’s worth, my only worthwhile EC was work experience. Public schools don’t care nearly as much about ECs as privates, just keep that in mind.

Don’t worry man. My best friend had no ECs. he literally studies, plays Xbox 360, hangs out with friends, and sleeps/eats.

While he got rejected from Cal and UCLA…he got Cornell.

My exgirlfriend had no significant awards or activities (cept diving…but only for one season in her entire 4 yrs). She got into Berkeley.

Its all about luck. Don’t worry about it.

Quality over quantity with EC’s, don’t bother being the President or VP of any random club, make sure you have a passion for it and make sure colleges see that

Sounds like me for the last two (sophomore and junior) years. Basically, it’s just been speech and debate. It’s like a non-athletic sport that sucks your life away. Worse, it has nothing to do with my major. But it’s so fun…

But if your major is political science or anything to do with communications, then I highly recommend joining your school’s debate team if it has one.
