I have no idea how my stats are...

<p>having been on this board for a while now, I still have no real idea if my overall chances are bad/good/whatever, so if anybody could give me some input and maybe ideas for improvement(if it's not too late anyway), I'll give you a cookie^^</p>

<p>Gender: F
Germany
School type: Public local school, will do my "Abitur" next school year, so I'll be a senior.
Intended Major(s): Criminology/Anthropology/Psychology/Languages
Financial Aid: As close as I can get to a full ride, since my mom does make less than 30,000 a year. Father died some years ago.</p>

<p>SATs: Will take in October. If I study over the summer I am pretty confident my scores won't be too bad.
SAT II: Planning on taking Biology, Literature and World History, same as with SATs
Overall Grade Average: I don't exactly know how the German grading scale translates into a GPA, so I'll just put done what I estimate it to be.
10th Grade: About a B-average, I didn't do anything for school back then.
11th Grade: Somewhere in the B+/A- Range.
12th Grade: A-/A Range</p>

<p>Junior year Schedule:
German Literature on a higher level
English Literature on a higher level
Spanish
Math
Chemistry
History
Politics
Philosophy
Gymnastics(only 1st Semester/Badminton(only 2nd Semester)
Drama
Choir(only 2nd Semester</p>

<p>Senior year Schedule:
Basically same as Junior year, but with different PE classes and minus History. </p>

<p>ECs:
Badminton: Only Grade 9 and 10
Horseback-Riding: since 6th Grade I think.
Youth Newspaper: Since this semester, Newspaper is published throughout my whole city, not just in school.
Drama: since 9th, I know I listed it as Class, which it is, but it requires a lot of after school work, and it's not mandatory or anything
Choir: same as with Drama</p>

<p>Other Activities(I dunno if those count as ECs):
Self-study Japanese
Writing
Volunteering with the organisation I went to Canada with, I basically spend a weekend in a youth hostel and helping kids, that will go abroad to Canada, with their questions and everything. </p>

<p>Work Experience:
Tutoring a elementary schooler in German and English
I sometimes take over a friends job and deliver sales promotion by mail(since 6th grade I believe).</p>

<p>Summer Programms:
So far none. I didn't really know those existed until recently.
I'll be attending a seminar of a well-known foundation this summer, though.
I think it's moderately selective, because one has to be recommended by the school. </p>

<p>Everything else:
-Have been in a gifted-programm from grade 6 to 10 -> skipped 8th grade.
-I have a proficiency exam in Latin, which is basically just saying that I have basic knowledge of Latin and took it for 5 years.
-I went abroad for 4 months to Canada, lived with a hostfamily and attended the local school.</p>

<p>plans for summer/next year:
finding a place where I can take japanese classes
finding a job.
maybe joining another sport.</p>

<p>Schools I'm looking at but not definitely going to apply at:
Harvard
Yale
Upenn
(haha I'm not really serious about those 3, I'll never get in with my grades)
U of Richmond
Swarthmore
Chaminade University.</p>

<p>So do you guys have some general adive on my stats, how do they look? How can I improve? maybe recommend some other schools to look at? </p>

<p>Thanks already.</p>

<p>ehm.....bump?</p>

<p>bumg again .... "_"</p>

<p>and again...</p>

<p>ur EC's are great...i dont know about your SAT's but how much do u usually score in practice tests....and GPA would be about 3.75 maybe more.</p>

<p>i say those are all really competitive and i wish u the best luck, but chancing u without much info is pretty hard and i would only be creating false expectations.</p>

<p>Yeah I dont think the Ivies will be a great chance, but the others you'd have a good shot with.</p>

<p>What is your intended course of study?</p>

<p>Thank for your replies.
Yeah I realize without the SATs there's some information missing, but I more or less forgot about them until recently.
I'm not so sure about my major yet, I'd like to continue Spanish and Japanese and maybe starting a new language, but I do not want to major in any of these, maybe a minor in Japanese if possible.
I really want to study Criminology, but most schools that offer Criminology don't offer need-based aid and very limited merit aid to internationals.
At the moment I'd pretty much put an "Undeclared" on my application.
(or do you mean something else by intended course of study?)</p>
