I have not been contacted for an interview yet...?

I applied early decision to Penn on 10/29/15 and it has been almost two weeks but I have not been contacted for an interview yet. Does this mean I am basically rejected?

No! This is a topic of heavy discussion. I believe that the general consensus is it’s down to your location in relation to available Penn alumni. Keep in mind, too, that while most individuals who apply (in general, whether rejected or admitted) to Penn are given an interview, there are applicants who are accepted and not interviewed at all.

What about the people who get virtual interviews?

People need to calm down about this. I applied to Penn on October 13th and have not been contacted. Be patient.

@jarrett211 interviews end at the end of this month. and people who applied oct 31 have gotten interviews so it might not be chronological

It is not chronological nor does it have anything to do with the interviewer’s interest… After speaking with several Penn applicants from last year and an actual interviewer - this is what we have learned…

The interviewers most likely have full time jobs! Some are doctors, lawyers, big business owners that are extremely busy and do this on the side (so to speak) out of love for their alma mater. If they haven’t gotten a hold of you yet- don’t worry most likely they are busy running a medical practice etc and may or may not get the chance to interview you despite best intentions…

We met an interviewer and this is what he told us. Some students from last year got the request early, some late, some none at all- but it had no bearing on their admissions… the girl who didn’t get an interview was still admitted.

Most likely they are extremely busy and will hopefully get to you soon!

Interviews are assigned arbitrarily at the discretion of the interview committee heads. I’m sure that assignments are still being made; I received assignments as late as November 8th, and I’m sure other committees made assignments even later. From there, it is up to the interviewer to accept or reject the assignment, and then reach out to the student.

And often, the # of applicants is much greater than the # of volunteer interview slots. Thus, a random portion will never be assigned an interview

Hi, I have applied ED for M&T (primary) and Wharton (secondary). I have gotten an interview for M&T and gave it 2 weeks ago, but have not been contacted for a Wharton interview. Can anyone shed light on this? Do students who apply to both typically get 1 or 2 interviews? I’m really WORRIED!

Someone mentioned in other threads that Nov. 21 is the last day for interviews. Anyone has not been contacted? Should we contact admission office about this?

@f2000sa Do not contact admissions; they’ll just tell you the same thing: not all applicants get an interview. It is their policy not to look up your app either to see if you’ll be getting an interview.

Penn just contacted interviewers to see if any of us are willing to take on a few more interviews, so the process is continuing. Penn has a commitment to interview all applicants and I think they hit about 96% last year. The group I was in is very large geographically and large by number of applicants. We hat 900+ applicants for ED last year. So hang in there and good luck.

I was contacted for an interview about 2 days after I posted this thread! I had my interview yesterday and it only lasted 30 minutes so I don’t know if I did well or not.

“Someone mentioned in other threads that Nov. 21 is the last day for interviews.” Likely not the case. I interview for another alma mater. Our write up deadline is Dec 1st. I don’t think Penn’s would be that much earlier.

That was me. What I had said was that Penn Admissions had told me “if you don’t get an interview by Nov 21st, you probably won’t be getting one.” She didn’t seem very sure however, she sounded like she was guessing.

I just this very moment got assigned 2 virtual interviews.

@amanivy How do you get 2???

He’s an interviewer, not an interviewee.

I am a she not a he. I am indeed an interviewer so you got some part of it right.

@amanivy Apologies. I saw the “man” part of your name, so I just assumed.
