I applied for early action , and i had all my documents in on time. I have seen all my peers post their acceptance letters and i’m starting to get nervous. Should i be worried? I applied for a major in Political Science. I don’t know if i’m overthinking or if there is a reason i haven’t heard from them
I wouldn’t panic yet. A lot of us haven’t heard, are you OOS? Also those with very high stats are accepted first, we are borderline with 1320 SAT and 91 gpa. I don’t expect to hear any time soon but still holding out hope. Good luck!
no i live in state 2 hours away from columbia, but good luck to you too
I’m OOS. I have good ACT and SAT scores, but I’m thinking all the In-State people will hear before I do. So, I wouldn’t worry. It looks like they only let a few people know this past Friday. My guess is that more will find out this coming Friday, but they’ll probably all be in-state too. U of SC doesn’t really say they’ll let you know until the week of Dec 9th-13th.
I’m just super impatient.
Have any OOS heard yet?
@BrielleNJ24 1320 SAT is towards the top of 25%-75% SAT so are you afraid you wont get in? I think OOS wont hear till Dec and even if you didn’t get in now you would be deferred were you should get it Good Luck
From South Carolina’s website for last year’s Class of 2023:
Freshman Enrollment
Applied: 30,778
Enrolled: 5,848
WCGPA midrange (high school average): 3.78-4.50
SAT midrange of total scores: 1200-1350
ACT midrange of composite scores: 25-30
Honors College
Enrolled: 567
WCGPA average (high school average): 4.71
SAT midrange: 1460-1530
ACT midrange: 32-34
If these #s really are for the students who enrolled, then it’s possible that the admissions stats were higher.
Since about 44% of those accepted were OOS, it would seem to me that the OOS students have to have higher test scores, while the in-state students might get more of a pass.
If you’re in-state and you score in the middle 50%, I would think you are OK.
I called the admissions office today, and they said they had only released a limited number of in state decisions but no out of state. That was about 3:00 today. My two older children got their out of state decisions this week two years ago and three years ago, so I’m hoping we will hear something this same week for Senior Child #3! Good Luck everyone!
@millong Do you recall if U of SC ever released the info in the middle of the week or was it always on Fridays?
Based on my brother’s experience last year, most of the colleges released the info on Fridays ( one or two on Saturdays). He was told this was to keep people from calling the Admissions Offices and let news (sometimes bad news) sink in over the weekend.
Two years ago with my son and three years ago with my daughter they didn’t do the email notifications, but my son and daughter got their acceptance packets in the mail on Tuesday and Wednesday of this past week. The reason I know this is because it popped up on my memories on Facebook this past week! I was SO hoping that we would hear today!
Two years ago (deadline was 10/15) my son heard on 11/7 with a package in the mail. His friends didn’t hear until December. I think a lot of it had to do with scholarships and the major you designated.
My (OOS) daughter also heard on 11/7 two years ago and a neighbor who also applied EA didn’t get his “yes” until about a month later, so they definitely send them out in “waves”. FWIW, she was higher stats/scholarship and some said that’s why she was in the first wave.
