I have over 70 Units from CC. Do I HAVE to transfer 70 of them over to Berkeley?

I may very well be interested in pursuing a double major, but I am weary of being subjected to the unit ceiling. If I transfer only 60 units from my CC, I believe that will give me slightly more leeway. Is this possible?

No. You can’t pick which units or how many you want to transfer.

Damn, that’s pretty inconvenient. I should have kept my CC units at 60 to begin with. Given Cal has a unit ceiling of 136 units for a double major, that leaves me 66 possible units before being cut off. Philosophy as a single major is 48 units to begin with. Given that, the ceiling seems unreasonable, and those extra 10 units from CC will be doing absolutely nothing for me.

Yeah I’m in the same spot. I have 69 units. I only need 32, I think, specifically for my major, and was hoping to double major in Sociology. No luck though as the unit ceiling would prevent it.

You should be guaranteed 2 years at Cal, if you’re a transfer. I’ve only got one major, at the end of Spring I’ll be up to 140 credits, and I was still able to push my graduation til after summer session. :stuck_out_tongue: If you can fit all your coursework into two years plus summer sessions, the unit ceiling shouldn’t give you much trouble. If you were missing a lot of pre-reqs coming in, you might even be guaranteed an extra semester (could be specific to CoE).

If all the requirements for a second major won’t fit into two years, maybe look into doing a minor instead?
