I have some problems with my transfer online application..

First off, thanks for visiting! Okay so when I enter in the information into the online web application, it looks really good but then I look at the Print Version and things are a bit messed up.

A) My Virginia county for my Permanent address appears as the county for my temporary address till may 1, 07, which is overseas, so that doesn't make sense ...

B) I attended a Virginia High School until October of my senior year, and then there were some issues (do I have to explain them on the app? I didn't see a section for educational issues) so I finished up the year (which needed like 4 courses) thru an online hs, which is private, and I couldn't find its CEEB code thru the search option. I'm really confused as to what to do, I'll try to contact the school and see if they can give me their CEEB code (if they have one..) but if not, what to do? Submit a transcript from school 1 and a diploma from school 2?? And when I look at the print view, only my first school is listed (which btw had me ranked as valedictorian before I had to leave, but it was for the better that I left, should I mention that or is that coming off as too show off-y?)

C) Also, my current VCCS school is not showing up on the paper version, and instead is highlighting the school I did the least coursework in as my main school .... should I just list the main school seeing as the coursework from the other 2 schools will be transferred to this main 2 yr school? Because in the paper app, out of the 2 non current schools, it lists the one I did the least work in first, unlike on the website, which is just screwing up the entire paper app version.

D) Do we have to have a legal guardian besides the parent?

E) Do we fax a signatured form if applying online?

And I think that's it for now. Thanks for any help you can provide. If it looks fine and dandy on the website, should I just disregard the paper view cause it's causing a lot of stress ... ?

Thanks a lot!

I think they said you might have problems viewing/printing with certain browsers. Try using Windows Explorer or read into their FAQ.

Questions A-C I would contact the transfer dept about. And do it soon, i'm sure they're getting a ton of emails each day. Be specific as possible about your problems.
Question D - I don't think so. I'm just listing my parents, which are your legal guardians. The legal guardian question is for those residing with someone other than their parent I'm pretty sure.
Question E - I don't think so. There's nothing in the instructions about this, other than sending $60.

Which school are you applying to? And are you going on the 16th?

Good advice, thanks dude, yeah I'll call them, and I'm applying to CAS & what is happening on the 16th?

Hmm, do you know anyone who has transferred out of UVa and why? If you get in, what do you think you'll do about housing?

16th- transfer info session...i cant go, my idiot physics teacher has a test at 5pm on that day

housing - im definently doing on campus, id be a second year and so its impractical for me to move off. Plus, their on-campus housing is pretty nice, and convienent to everything. Why not? haha

transfered out - I actually don't, most kids love UVa from day 1 of orientation. However, I do have friends who dont like UVa all that much, but it may just be freshman jitters. There are people that don't like the conservatism, or the preppiness, or all of that.
It may be interesting to start a thread of "Is there anything about UVa people don't like?" and see what comes up. Im positive I want to transfer, soo.

what are your stats?

Haha yeah, uva has sweet dorms. Actually I'm positive too, just was wondering. Uh well I was ranked 1 in a southern virginia school (small school but I got to talk to Dean J 1 on 1!) till I moved in november of my senior year (06-07) so 4.0UW GPA and then I finished the schooling on my own by doing a lot of dual credit by taking classes at colleges soo since I didn't want to lose my transfer credits by going in as a first year and graduting in 2011 (like my fellow senior friends), i'm taking the last 6 classes I need for an associate degree at at a vcc this semester & hopefully will go in as a 3rd year, save 2 years of my life doing core stuff ...

4.0 UW GPA in college too. I had a tramautic experience as a freshman in HS that sorta gave me that "no less than an A" mentality, but I guess that's good, haha.

haven't done the essays yet & I have two 4s and a 3 in AP exams, 700 writing 660 math 630 CR on sat I, 680 bio sat II. I'm really lazy when it comes to doing stuff outside of class but yeah, you?

Oh the info session is on campus? Yeah I'm overseas now, definitely can't visit that .. oh well it's pretty self explanatory. Hopefully someone will cover the high points on here.

But dude I saw some of your posts, you really seem like you'll have an excellent shot and get in. Question - do honors benefits and such apply to transfer students? Echols, Jeffersons, etc?

Indie, are you in Moscow right now? Did we chat on the phone just before you left?

Haha first off, remember you can always edit your posts up to 20 min after writing them, just fyi
Second, no, Echols/Rodmans only apply to first years i'm pretty sure. Which is a bummer since Rodman would be sweet, but UVa period would be sweet =P

Also,my stats are good but maybe under UVa-par. 3.6 HS (4.2 senior year...i had a bad run junior year), 8 APs total 1380 SAT (7-something math, dont quite remember), at Virginia Tech, 3.2 for engineering, loottsss of ECs including the VT SGA Senate, pretty darn good essays, good recs, female from NoVa...umm thats about it haha...i'm going to submit mid-semester reports and they'll all (17 credits) be A or B, mostly As...

I can't make it to the session, but I visited with Paxton Marshall a week ago. Let me say, everytime i'm on campus my want to go there increases, but then I met that guy. UVa has some incredible people there, and combined with the ton of room for electives even with engineering, UVa is a perfect fit. May 1st seems soooo far away =/

He is probably my favorite faculty member on grounds. Hearing him talk about engineering and social responsibility is inspiring.

You'll also notice at open houses that he doesn't wear a name tag...just a sign around his neck that says "ENGINEERING". :)

you're soo in, female engineer. Yeah I guess the special progrms are a kind of reel to make you attend all 4 years there ... when do you submit spring 07 grades? And do you think the recommendation thing is necessary? I know they don't require it, but if you don't send it, I mean, is it common practice to send it?

haha that's awesome. my parents want me to go there cause they think it's all prestigious and in state tuition and such. I think anyone can have fun and friends if they really want to.

Dean J - He was incredible. It was funny, we talked engineering for a bit, but at one point he was just like "we're both engineers, I think we know what's going on" then we just talked about everything else in life. He was smart, funny, and very down to earth. I mentioned something about wanting to minor in history because I have enough APs to do so, and how my mom thought an engineering degree and history minor would be funny. He then pointed out he has a masters in history, and all of the sudden, a lightbulb in my head came on saying "This man really is incredible". He secured my want to attend, and other professors like Kathy Thorton just seal the deal.

IndependentMinor - I hope you're right. Im not so sure if the female part will make up for my 3.2, but i'm hopin =) As for the recs, i'm sending all four, simply because it can't hurt. Also, they said mid-semester reports arn't guarenteed to be included in the decision, they said we can send them anyways. My mid-semester mark is actually March 1, so i'm going to send them out probably Feb 27 or 28.
