I have some questions for transfer into NYU.

Does NYU give out any merit aid for transfers (especially to those who are highly qualified for the school)? I want to apply to NYU's 3-2 program (Math w/Electrical Engineering) via NYU CAS/Poly.

I also have a question about NYU-Poly. Is the school fully integrated with NYU yet (I know it is now NYU's engineering school, but do Poly students have full access to EVERYTHING (and I mean EVERYTHING) Manhattan students have. i.e.: Study Abroad or research opportunities)? Everytime I pass by NYU-Poly's main building it says "NYU-Poly" and under it "Polytechnic Institute of NYU" (I thought the name was now NYU: Polytechnic School of Engineering). I also see a lack of NYU flags around the school. Maybe its just me being impatient about the merger and maybe I'm just expecting too much. Though I really want NYU-Poly to soar and become a respected engineering school nationwide because of this merger. :P

I'll be applying for the Spring 2015 semester once the application is released. Thanks for those who read this and responded!

Oh sorry for the misspelled title. I’m really sleepy atm :stuck_out_tongue:

NYU rarely gives merit aid to anyone, let alone transfers. The only people I know who got merit aid received scholarships under a program supporting minority leadership at the university.

Since the merger just officially happened, that’s probably why signage and flags and things aren’t totally up to date. Technically, Poly students have full access to everything that Manhattan-NYU students do, however for study abroad specifically, it is unlikely that you would be able to study abroad because there are no engineering classes abroad. You could do it if you wanted to postpone graduation by a semester, but otherwise you would be out of luck. Any research opportunities, etc should still be fully accessible to all poly students

Alright then, I guess I will just stick to applying to Poly strictly.

I know Poly gives out good financial aid and their aid isn’t changing after the merger thankfully. Thanks jazzcatastrophe!

Have you been to the Brooklyn campus lately? The signage has been pretty much 95% replaced. In fact the school isn’t referred to as Poly or NYU-Poly anymore by administration. It is the Polytechnic School of Engineering, or just School of Engineering for short. Before the merger, you already had access to pretty much everything. Post merger, all that’s really been happening is consolidation of policies and databases since we already had access to everything at NYU. You could always study abroad through NYU, it just not as easy if you want to stay on track since engineering courses are very specific. They are now being offered at Abu Dhabi and Shanghai now though. This is the perfect time to come to the School of Engineering. Give it two or three more years and it will be incredibly competitive.

Alright jimbo113453 thanks for your input. I kind of visited today. (I went to eat at Five Guys haha).

Yeah I have noticed signage around the school now. (though they should hang the school’s flag, I saw it somewhere on facebook or something and it looks pretty cool.) All they really have to do to be honest is just change the name of the school that is on the Joseph J. and Violet J. Jacobs building to the new name tbh.

Yeah, that big electronic one? My guess is that they’ll have it replaced ASAP… it’s not really been visible for a while since the scaffolding’s been put up except from the side, and it does seem rather cumbersome to replace. I even forget that sign exists now lol.
