I have to choose between two essays for the commonapp.. help?

I'm going to use one of my UC essays for my commonapp essay, but I can't decide which is better. One of my essays is about my love of physics and my intellectual pursuit to understand the origins of the universe (UC #1), and the other one is about my immigration to america (UC #2).

Personally, I feel like the physics essay is better written, but I'm an asian male applying as a physics major so it might be cliched and not help me very much. My immigration essay has more humor and more heart, but not as well written/organized. Also, most of my extra curriculars has to do with journalism and linguistics, which doesn't really reflect my love of physics. Is that going to be a problem? If you were an admissions officer, which would you rather read?

I’d much rather read the physics essay, just because immigration essays can turn out pretty cliched and repetitive. And passion is what adcoms want to see in a applicant. But then again, its not the topic that makes the essay great. You can choose the most mundane topic and write a really intriguing essay.

I think you should choose based on the essay’s writing, and whether it reveals more about you.

Physics essay definitely. Immigration essay tends to be formulaic, cliched and almost every immigrants are writing it.
