So basically, what this means is I can't apply until I finish my freshmen year thus I would miss the fall and summer deadlines for the upcoming year and would have to wait for spring! dumb rule right? So I was wondering does anyone know if there is a way to get around this? I know someone who transferred to U of Iowa this year and got in before the end of second semester of the school they were attending?
Thanks:)

Each college and university sets its own policy about transfer students. In some cases, you are a transfer applicant if you have taken ONE (yes, 1) credit after high school graduation. In other cases, you are considered a freshman applicant if you have taken less than a full year of academic credits after high school graduation. You really do have to investigate each place that you’d like to try to transfer to. Every year lots of students transfer to a new college or university at the end of their first quarter or first semester.

You need to visit the websites of the places that are on your list, and find out that their specific policies are. You also should spend some time at the Transfer Forum here. Start by reading the thread at the top titled “Transfer Admissions 101”. Here is a link for you.
If you haven’t started college yet, and the situation is that you flat-out don’t like the places where you have been accepted for the fall, you could apply to some late and rolling admissions institutions, [List of Late Deadline Schools- Locate Colleges with Late Application Deadlines at Petersons.com](http://www.petersons.com/college-search/late-deadline-schools.aspx) check the NACAC space availability list aftrr May 4 [NACAC Homepage](http://www.nacacnet.org/Pages/default.aspx) or just take a year off and apply again.
