Can it be done? What's your record paper writing time?

I’ve written a 15-page article in a total of 12 hours in two days.

I can write a 15 page opinion paper in 30 minutes but it’s another story if it’s a research paper…

If I was pressed for time, I could write that in a day.

I just get to the library at 9am and just write until it’s late and I can’t concentrate any more.

…but instead you are wasting your time on CC :-)

rI wrote a seven page research paper in an hour last night, wasn’t difficult. You can totally knock out a 15 page one by Saturday morning. Aim to have it finished by Friday afternoon, so you can spend the rest of the evening editing and revising it.

I wrote a 24-page paper in about eight hours last semester.

Do you guys have tips? I don’t have this problem, but would like to hear how you guys do this?

For me, the hardest part of a paper like this would be starting it. Usually, I know exactly what argument I want to make, but not how to get there. So the first paragraph almost inevitable takes much longer than it should. Once I’m going, though, I can usually pound out a solid paper. I was able to write a 22-page paper in a day and a half.

However, I would wait at least an hour before going back to edit it, so you have fairly fresh eyes and are more likely to catch mistakes. My system is that I usually write a paper two nights before it’s due, and then edit it the night before. Just my two cents.

I’ve written 12 pages in 12 hours before. Trying to go beyond a page per hour is probably pushing it and will result in a much lower quality paper, IMO.

How do you write a 15 page paper in 30? Either you’re a genius or the paper is crap. I don’t think I can get 15 pages in 30 minutes if I did nothing but hold down the ‘s’ key.

In my papers, 1 page (1" margins) of double spaced 12 point font results in about 350 words per page. 15 pages would therefore be about 5250 words, which results in a typing speed of about 175 words per minute. Highly unlikely (the fastest non cheating typist on http://play.typeracer.com/ averages 189 wpm, and this is just retyping short passages, not coming up with something new). I would say about 2 hours is doable if you have a very strong idea of what you’re writing about and are not concerned at all about the mechanics and structure of the paper (it is crap).

12 page paper in my Mexican history class. Took me about four hours, I’d say. I don’t really recall though, that night was a blur. Good luck!
